Yeah, it is an amazing place. Hire a 4x4 car. Some highlights to visit: Namib desert (incl. Deadvie), orange river, fish river canyon (this is like a slightly smaller version of the Grand Canyon!), salt plains around walvis bay, the skeleton coast, mt brandberg nature reserve, epupa falls (amazing) and of course Etosha National Park.

Would definitely recommend. South Africa too, though I've only been to the cape-town area myself, but that's pretty cool.
I have seen and read amazing things about cape town.. hope to find a way there soon.
