Ubud has been taken over by tourists as the ever encroaching modern materialistic economic model extends it's tendrils into the old world... The padi fields are all being bought out as the locals can't afford to maintain their lands. Concrete bunker hotels pop up more and more. The magic and the masters are still here and they have their work cut out for them.... There is even a Starbucks now ;(

@xplice You just showed the other side of the coin . Yes , there are many issues here, indeed. Unfortunately you cannot stop the shocking development.Balinese still keep their culture alive and I still have hopes but I am sad to see the unpleasant changes since 16 years I live here.
