Does anyone want to visit a real mammoth Museum and see the Parking lot of ancient Neolithic people? Then welcome to Yudinovo. This is a small village near Bryansk, where for many years excavations have been conducted to find traces of past eras.
The road from the city to the Museum is not very far. About an hour by car on a great flat highway, and here you are on the spot. There are no large multi-storey houses, only farmers lives in the village. Neat houses with simple and kind residents everywhere.
To begin with, we find ourselves in the same legendary Museum, because of which we made this trip. Local inhabitants show us the direction of way there, although not all of them understand what kind of Museum we are talking about, because here in the village there are as many as three museums!
We arrive first. In the morning there is no one in the Museum, but it is open and the local Director lets us pass after we buy tickets here.
The structure of the Museum is incredibly surprising to us. There are no shelves with glass showcases or tablets with the names of artifacts. Instead, the building was constructed neposredstvenno above the excavation is a pit about three meters deep.
The excavation offers visitors an incredible view of the mammoth bones, which lie in exactly the same way as they were found. Here are the tusks, bones and ribs of these animals, of which there are a great many.
Why is everything here in this form? The fact is that in ancient times people hunted these animals, and then arranged homes of bones and skins of mammoths. In fact, here is a small settlement of CRO-magnons.
Over the pit built a convenient scaffold, which is an observation deck. It is from here that visitors can look at the excavations, take pictures and ask questions to the guide.
On the building of the Museum hangs a marble plaque, which says: "the Excavations were made by the Leningrad Institute of archaeology under the direction of doctor of historical Sciences Abramova Zinaida, 1981-1981"

Very very neat. As a kid I once visited a museum near my hometown in Idaho where they had excavated some mammoth bones. I still remember it; the sheer size of those creatures boggles the mind!
I agree with you. But relatively recently they were running among forests and fields of entire herds. But modern humanity has not seen it.
Very cool article and photos. What a wonderful little museum. 😄
Thank you! Welcome to visit our mammoths, @trincowski! ; )
