On a sunny September 9th, 2023, I headed to this awesome farm called Farm In The City. Picture this: wild animals, kids giggling, and Mother Nature showing off her best. It also happened to be @yunayuna's birthday, so it was a birthday trip for her as well. Hang tight as I spill the beans on this epic farm day!
We made our farm adventure extra convenient with online ticket booking, scoring our passes at just RM39 per person (approximately 8 USD). But if spontaneity is more your style, worry not – walk-in tickets are readily available. As we strolled through the entrance, we were immediately captivated by teasers like the intriguing ostrich pen. And for a mere RM10 per bucket (about 2 USD), we couldn't resist purchasing animal feed, which included a tempting mix of carrots, hay, and bird seeds. It was a fantastic way to get up close and personal with the farm's charming inhabitants while making cherished memories.
Our adventure kicked off at the turtles' pen, where we encountered a variety of species, including the impressive Indian snapping turtles. These magnificent creatures proved to be surprisingly timid yet clearly enjoyed our company. Their massive size added to the awe-inspiring experience, making it a memorable start to our farm visit. (Even an image to show scale!)
Our journey continued with a visit to the reptile cavern, where we encountered awe-inspiring creatures like anacondas, pythons, and a host of other reptilian wonders. It was an exhilarating experience that left us buzzing with excitement as we eagerly made our way to the bird aviary.
The bird aviary was a delightful surprise, where birds roamed freely and eagerly interacted with us. Holding up bird seeds, we had the joy of feeding them, and it was clear they were well-pampered, with some of them sporting pleasantly plump figures. The aviary housed an array of feathered friends, including ducks, golden pheasants, pigeons, parrots, peacocks, and a diverse cast of characters, making it a colorful and memorable experience.
Our next stop led us to the savanna. As soon as the goats caught sight of our feed bucket, they went absolutely wild, with a few daring ones attempting to climb us like mountains. Feeling a bit overwhelmed, I decided to focus on feeding the adorable baby goats, who were being pushed around by the other elderly. Amidst the goat frenzy, a miniature cow and a donkey were casually mingling, adding an unexpected charm to the scene.
Our final adventure led us to the exhibition hall, where we had the unique opportunity to interact with fascinating reptiles like the bearded dragon and an albino hedgehog. We also found the twilight pen housing barn and bay owls, they were mostly in their alert sleep, asleep but still weary of their surroundings. Nearby, we discovered meerkat and ringtail lemur pens, though most of these creatures were in deep slumber after a satisfying lunchtime feast.
Our final stop took us to Raccoon Isle. While raccoons are often considered pests in some parts of the world, in Malaysia, they are seen as captivating zoo-worthy animals here. Nearby, we could dispense animal pellets to feed them, and to our delight, they formed an orderly queue, delicately plucking the food from our hands. It was a heartwarming and unexpected experience, reminding us of the diverse perspectives on these furry creatures from around the world.
As we wrapped up our unforgettable day at the farm, we couldn't help but reflect on the countless moments of wonder and connection with nature. From the shy turtles to the lively raccoons, each encounter was a reminder of the beauty and diversity of the animal kingdom. This farm adventure had been eventful, heartwarming, and educational all at once, leaving us with cherished memories and a newfound appreciation for the incredible world we share with these remarkable creatures. It was a day well spent, filled with laughter, amazement, and a deep sense of gratitude for the simple joys that nature brings. Till next time !~
