Golitsin trail. One of the most beautiful place in Crimea.

The natural beauty of Crimea

Today I would like to talk about a very beautiful place. This is the so-called Golitsin trail.
Almost every time I come to Crimea, I visit these places. This place is located near the town of Sudak, near the town of New World.
Currently, the New World is a village located 7 kilometers from Sudak. The village of Novyi Svet is widely known thanks to the Novyi Svet champagne factory of the same name, founded by Prince Lev Sergeyevich Golitsyn in 1878.
By the way, Novyi Svet in Russian means New World или New Light. The word Svet in Russian has two meanings (World and Light as sunlight ).

There is a very beautiful coast, all rugged with rocks and decorated with beautiful pine trees.
From ancient times, these places were inhabited by Greeks or Genoese or Venetians sailing here. These places may not be very good for agriculture, but convenient for the organization of the port and fortress. Known, for example, is a large fortress in Sudak. The so-called Genoese fortress. This is one of the fortresses, which were many on the southern coast of Crimea.

But today it’s not about the man-made features of this land. Today I'm more interested in simple nature. She is so beautiful that attracted a large number of people of different levels of affluence and desires.

One of these people was Lev Sergeevich Golitsyn. Lev Golitsyn studied in France and studied winemaking. In 1878, Lev Sergeyevich Golitsyn bought out the New World with plans to create a winery. Lev Sergeyevich made the main contribution to the development of the New World, became the founder of winemaking in Crimea and the first in the Russian Empire to establish industrial production of high-quality champagne, effervescent and other grape wines.

In 1912, these places were visited by Emperor All-Russian Emperor Nicholas II. To his arrival, the so-called Golitsyn trail was built.

The Golitsyn trail was cut through by Turkish workers on the orders of Lev Sergeyevich Golitsyn. The length of the trail is about 5 kilometers. The main attractions of the trail are of course the views of the Black Sea and the coastline. There are a lot of capes and beautiful rocks.
In addition, a large grotto formed by the sea is located on the trail. This grotto has excellent acoustics and sometimes concerts are even held here. In the days of Golitsyn, a wine cellar was built in this grotto.
Around these places are legends. The names of the bays are worth something. For example, one of the bays is called "robber". According to legend, smugglers hid goods in the bay and met here with accomplices. Most likely this is just a legend.

By the way, it is interesting that a large number of juniper trees grow here on the cape. Some of them have been growing for more than 1000 years, which is truly amazing.
By the way, thanks to these trees we found a shadow and got a rest. We found a place far from the trail so that other tourists would not stop us from enjoying the warm weather, the smell of juniper and the sea.

Time flew by. We arrived on the trail at about 11 a.m. and returned back at 5 p.m.

This is an amazing place in which you want to return again and again. By the way, I completely forgot to note that the New World is the place where champagne is produced.
The same Lev Golitsyn began this production and still this very high-quality and tasty drink is being made here.

And if you are tired of walking along the mountain trail - there is nothing better than to sit on the promenade and drink a glass of local champagne.

Gorgeous photos! Almost hard to believe that so many awesome views can be found along a single trail. 😍

Also— it's super humbling to know that there are trees out there thriving at hundreds and hundreds of years old!

Really nice. Makes me want to go there. First years of my life was spent in Feodosia, don't know if it is as beautiful as Novyj Svet.
