Visit to Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian coast in Rijeka

During this school year, my kid visited the Maritime Museum with her school and brought me a few interesting photos. Well, she tried to focus and take some nice solid shots, but you can't expect a child to focus entirely while there are so many interesting things going on around her. Some pictures turned out to be blurry and out of the focus, so I am bringing you ones that survived the surge of excitement.

Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian coast is set in the extraordinary beautiful Governor's Palace built in the 19th-century which is a protected cultural monument on its own.
The only downfall of this location is if you are on foot, you have to climb up the hill. It is one of the most beautiful old buildings in my city and it is over 120 years old. I always thought how chintzy that building is looking like an overgrown wedding cake...
And that is no mistake because besides being a museum this place serves as a host to other colorful events, like cultural evenings, masked balls and a place to make a civil marriage.

The museum holds samples and exhibits from the prehistoric times till Modern era and shows a vivid dynamics between Rijeka as a city and other European centers within a time span of one millennium.

The museum holds numerous collections. I will give you a list of what they have there and you can visit each collection separately online on their official website to see more.

Photo-walk though the museum

I believe these two exhibits are part of The Collection of Applied Arts.
My kid make sure to take a big up close snaps.

Being too short? No problem! A furniture maybe looks kind of big and mirrors are always out of the reach, but it didn't stop her to take a few shots you will rarely see online. I guess things do look different when you are small.

Nope, not a mistake. That painting... or whatever it is... really looks like that. My kid make sure to capture all the 'odd things', just like I told her.
Well, weird has a different definition for us adults and children.

Taking a snap becomes a challenge only a few can deliver, especially if you are a miniature photographer who is a few feet shorter of the bill...

Most of the exhibits ( or all) are set to lie on the elevated positions, so an each photo is taken almost from the blind spot.

This is I believe are all exhibits of crafts, decorative arts, stone and bronze objects, weaponry and ...

This monumental effort deserved a double portion of the ice cream, which all little visitors got in the town's center after leaving a museum.
When my kid came home we previewed her work, but she was unhappy to find out that many photos didn't turn as clear and in a way she expected them to be.
In my opinion, they turned out just perfect and better yet, they showed me a Museum, that I visited a few times till now, from a completely different and unknown perspective.

Wow! You saved me a flight across the Atlantic to visit this awesome museum! The glasswork is amazing. The swords. The statue-man I should recognize... *sigh .... love it!

Pretty cool, there's so many kinds of museums out there. Maritime stuff can get pretty complex, but it's an important aspect of history. Glad your child had a nice time :)

Hi!. I'm new in Steemit ! I followed you and upvote, let's increase the power of Steemit together! I hope you follow me. I'm always glad to have a new community with good people! ;)

Yeah the perspective is very different from what someone taller would achieve. So many photographers lie on the ground just to achieve this. Lol

Awesome showcase.
I love going to historic museums because sometimes it feels like your in a different time or world.

I always loved museums and I'm happy to discover so many masterpieces in only one place. :)
Thanks for sharing! :D
