Sydney Harbour has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth, and so everytime I am fortunate enough to visit Sydney I always take the longest ferry ride possible on the harbour. I like boats, and there is always something to see, from the million dollar houses to magnificent sailboats.
This is the trip I recently took from Circular Quay across to the Northern beach-side suburb of Manly. The trip takes about 30 minutes on a larger than usual ferry as you pass quite close to the heads and beyond there is nothing but Pacific Ocean for thousands of kilometres.
Manly, is perhaps not as famous or trendy as Bondi but every bit as beautiful, its a great little beach with some great food. Its a popular place for surfing, swimming or socialising, and definitely worth a visit.
*****MANLY BEACH*****
CIRCULAR QUAY
There is always plenty to look at from Circular Quay. The Harbour bridge is to your left and the Opera House to your right. On this morning, the huge P&O Cruiseliner the "Pacific Pearl" was also docked. It was a crisp Winter's morning, with a blue sky and a light breeze as we set of on the 30 minute journey to Manly.

.LOOKING OUT THE FRONT: NORTH HEAD & THE PACIFIC OCEAN
Beyond those headlands there is nothing for a long way, but raw wild ocean.ARRIVING AT MANLY PIER

. .SOME BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS & A BIG TREE
My mother-in-law loved the big trees which are located along the fore-shore, and you'll see she didn't have a hope of getting her arms around this one. .THE PROMENADE
.OUR FISH & CHIPS
. .So after our big adventure we made it and I treated my guests to a famous Aussie-style battered fish & chips, with a side of equally Aussie Oyster Kilpatrick. I was with 4 Thai visitors who wanted to try something Australian, & without a doubt they loved it. Unfortunately it clouded over and the wind picked up for our return trip, but I was happy to have a beautiful morning and get some great pics first. A few of the sailing boats came out after lunch and took advantage of the windier weather.
