Let's travel together #54 - Bigar Waterfall (Cascada Bigar)

in #travelfeed7 years ago (edited)

It's not just one of the most beautiful waterfalls from Romania, but also from EUROPE.
Today we are taking this trip together to discover Bigar Waterfall. 💧
Ready, set, go!

The Bigar Waterfall is located in the Anina Mountains which are situated in the western part of Romania, in Caras-Severin County. For those who were reading my older travel posts, Anina Mountains are also known as one of the richest mountains from Romania, having a lot of tresures to be discovered,

Şuşara Waterfall, Beuşniţa Waterfall, To The Hooks - Nera Gorges, Bei Eye Lake , Vaioaga Waterfall, being just a few of them. 🗺️

At the beginning of this post I mentioned the fact that Bigar Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls - well, this masterpiece earned not one, but three memorable places in different tops:

  • 🥇No. 1 in Top - The Most Interesting Waterfalls from Romania
  • 🥈No. 6 in Top 10 - The Most Beautiful Waterfalls from Europe (you can see the rest of them, HERE)
  • 🥉No. 1 in Top 8 - Unique Waterfalls Around the World. (you can also see the rest of t hem, HERE).

The waterfall is located right next to the main road, and if there is a big car queue on the road, you have many chances to even miss this beauty. When I visited this place, it was pretty hard to reach the waterfall as the surface was very steep and slippery, but meanwhile locators created different stairs and bridges for the tourists and also some indicators to make you pay attention to the waterfall.

As every mystic place have a legend, Bigar Waterfall also have its own. This time is a story about the love between two teenagers and the girl's parents which were against their relationship so they decided to lock down their daughter. Desperately wanting to be with a boy who's name was Bigar she was transformed into waterfall and the water which flows were the boy's tears. This was the only option for them to be happy together. There are also rumors that after rain if a rainbow's colors drop on the waterfall, there will be created an illusion with a picture of the couple. Pretty touching.. 💔🌈

More than that, there is even a new waterfall which is created after rainy days which doesn't have any name yet but will left you speechless with its beauty.

If you take a trip to this waterfall, be sure to also cross the bridge and enjoy the surroundings, there are some more beautiful places you can visit around.

The picture was taken by my sister Mihaela Valceanu, and you can see it RIGHT HERE.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Good Job ! It seems that you improved a lot your writing skills.

Absolutely stunning! If I ever make it to Romania you have to be my guide :)

I would be more than happy! :D

Bigar's story is heartbreaking but he's now a beautiful waterfall :) Haven't see a waterfall that has this shape. It's really unique and gorgeous :)

Indeed :D thanks for taking your time to read the post :)

It looks a unique group of smaller waterfalls combined together. A sensational example of nature. I can 't immagine with a rainbow how it will become even more beautiful.

Yep, it lefts you speechless 😯

Wow thats a cool waterfall!

It really is, thanks!

I have always wanted to go there. I have seen some amazing photos of the Bigar's waterfall over the internet.

Search for it how it looks like when it's winter and is frozen. You will definitely want to see it, haha :D

The waterfall is indeed breathtaking but because it is very popular, I would recommend anyone to visit in the morning or at sunset and get a room at one of the nearby traveling lodges. Or just visiting it during workdays. And don't forget to also visit the nearby places, maybe after a while, the OP would create a huge map with all the sights in one place, and links to each of her articles. I would vote her for Tourism Minister of Romania :D
You are doing a better job of promoting our country than everyone else.
Keep it up!

So many kind words that I don't even know how to answer, lol. Many thanks right from the bottom of my heart! That's so sweet of you 🤗
