Few years back, I went to Calauit, our country's first wildlife safari .There I watched animals from Africa grazing on weeds and roaming around as natural as can be. These animals during the middle of the war were shipped to our country to take refuge. According to our guide many of them got sick by the long voyage and died long before they reached Philippine soil. To accommodate them this parcel of land was declared a sanctuary by a legislative law hence making this as the only government runned wildlife safari of the country.

FB_IMG_1522245011480-01.jpegYes it's expensive adventure as one has to take an hour to two hours boat trip to this island depending how strong the tides are then ride a car built for the rough roads to this place .

Here you will be able to speak with their keepers who had to endure months of separation from their loved ones just to make sure that the animals are not poached .I am moved by their commitment to conservation in spite of the minimal accommodations here.

I know in the movies giraffe are gentle animals. But since it's my first time and they're larger and taller than me it can at first be intimidating. So when the guide ask for volunteers to feed them I volunteered to be the last.

One by one the guide showed us how to bribe the four legged creature with long neck to eat tree twig .If you noticed, the giraffe even disarray my hairdo during the trials. Eventually, after some hours I decided its time to capture that perfect picture so here goes

Exposure like this allows people to dispense any misconception they have if any .Cebuanos are lucky as just recently I overheard in the television network a wildlife safari soon to open. I am still to see that with my own eyes.

We should care for all animals being the steward of Earth. For us to have others supporting our cause we have to give everyone a delightful experience first right ? Exposure trips like this are for such purpose.
