Hey Travel-Steemians, how are you today? If you haven't been to this wonderful Greek marvel, I will take you with me on a short photo-trip if you have the time!
Corfu, or as the Greeks call it Kerkyra is the second largest island in the Ionian Sea. It is also very close to Albania and it's beach paradise Ksamil, but that's for another travel story.
I visited in with a big group of fellow photographers from Bulgaria, we traveled with a bus from Sofia, stopped for a short photo-break in Ioannina, with its beautiful ancient town and lively lake with birds and kayaking people and then took the ferry from Igoumenitsa to Kerkyra.
So first enjoy few pictures from Ioannina below. I will not be showing you the typical landscapes / cityscapes from there, everyone can use Google Search, but only the few things that impressed me.
The Art installation near one of the entrances of the old town:
Seagulls that love to pose for my camera: :)
It was very beautiful on the ferry, watching the Golden Hour overtake the day. It takes few hours from Igoumenitsa to the capital city of Kerkyra, as far as I recall:
Our group spent 4 day on the island and 3 of them days I was setting my alarm to wake me long before the sunrise so I am able to use the best colors Nature presents to us.
On the island there is actually a walking path where one could stand right below the landing airplanes, on this photo you see the lighting poles of the airport, most of them are in the sea waters :)
There are two small Orthodox churches built on tiny islands and those must not be missed once you're there. The Church of Panagia Vlacherna is accessible by foot but for the other one you'll need a boat.
Here's a photo of Vlacherna church during one of the moody mornings:
Our Nature is the best painter, isn't She?
Corfu has a very rich history, and one could see that from the mixture of cultures and the colorfulness of everything there. Greek style luxury could be experienced as well ;)
Sunset city view from the Fort:
Fishing is very popular in Greece:
Some details through my eyes:
Of course, we had a lot of fun ;)
I hope you enjoyed those moments with me!
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
