The Ancient Powerful goddess || Moremi Ajasoro The Courageous
For a couple of Historical purpose here we have the one out of the hundreds the Courageous woman. It is said that the Woman made so many saves to human race most especially the Yorubas as she did alot of fighting against the enemies but do you know what? To my surprise she made so many names which other men could not make even as at that time.
My visit to this ancient historical town brings alot of more beautiful awareness and more importantly great knowledge about the ancient city of Ile-Ife. I was brought up and bread here in the city of Ile-Ife but when things were not too much in order this is because we have alot of Powerful sensations who rose against each other by fighting wars. Some damages were made but with time renovation too followed but in beautiful styles. I went to the my Nursery school education here in the city and also my secondary school education as well since that time I was eager to know more about this Position the ancient goddess took in the overcoming the past forefather enemies. So, today I went to the statue where the Moremi Ajasoro was placed since few year they did the renovation and modernization of the statue. It took me 3 hours 50 minutes to reach the statue arena. So many people came around for some questions about my arrival to the arena because they hardly see new faces to visit the Moremi Ajasoro Statue although I was told some set of people left the arena few days ago. They came from a very far University to pay some school excursion and stayed four days in an hotel and visited more ancient historical statues.
Little Biography Of Moremi Ajasoro
Moremi was a very brave and beautiful woman who, in order to deal with the problem facing her people, offered her only son in sacrifice to the Spirit of the river Esimirin so that she could discover the strength of her nation's enemies.
She is said to have been taken as a slave by the Ugbo and, due to her beauty, married their ruler as his anointed queen. After familiarizing herself with the secrets of her new husband's army, she escaped to Ile-Ife and revealed this to the Yorubas who were able to subsequently defeat them in battle.
Following the war she returned to her first husband, King Oramiyan of Ife (and later Oyo), who immediately had her re-instated as his Princess Consort. In order to fulfil the pledge she made to Esimirin before embarking on her mission, her son Oluorogbo was given in sacrifice to the Spirit because this is what it asked her for when she returned to its shrine.
The Edi Festival is said to have then been started as a means of celebrating the sacrifice the princess made for the people of Yorubaland. Furthermore, a number of public places are named after her in contemporary Nigeria, such as the female residence halls at the University of Lagos and Obafemi Awolowo University.
Ile-Ife is a great historical town which brings other people from different part of the world to come and see what memories they have in terms of old ancient Historical belief and Power. I believe it is so because from my own perspective we have different opinions, ideas and believe in Historical Town and countries but as it is here Moremi Ajasoro is one of the most special goddess in Yoruba history and Human race.
