On the windy road climbing outside of Benaojan, Spain
Through the rocky country
We left the amazing old town of Ronda in southern Spain, driving the small twisting roads through this rocky terrain toward the Mediterranean town of Nerja. We got coffees with milk at a little place in the town of Benaojan, and outside of town stopped to explore Cueva de la Pileta cave. An amazing place with layers of primitive cave paintings. I stopped on the windy road to capture this sketch of an interesting looking house nestled into the rocky hillside.
My sketch with watercolor added
This drawing was done using brown permanent ink in a quill pen, so that I could make thicker or thinner lines as I applied pressure to the pen. A great way to avoid monotony of line weight. The watercolor washes were added later.
Beautiful and free strokes that capture the essence of the landscape but also nourish it with your own style, giving the work a friendly and smiling character. I liked it very much!
Thanks so much @rtraviezo. It is always fun to be able to sketch on travels.
