Roads at dinnertime
A view of the streets and castle walls
Just over an hour from Lisbon, Obidos Castle is a beautiful old medieval place to visit and explore. As with most of these old hilltop villages, it was tricky and confusing trying to find the entrance to enter with our car. We had a 2-night stay there. Once the car was parked, we explored all over on foot, trying a few of the restaurants, walking the castle walls, and looking for coffee of course!
The old bumpy cobblestone streets get very narrow in places, and even become blocked entirely when restaurants put out their tables and chairs for dinnertime. We had to backtrack several times when we came upon this. Tour buses and their wandering groups can be a challenge as well.
The street in my sketch is an example of a narrow road that turns into a dining area in late afternoon.
