Lampuuk Beach is one of the main attractions of Aceh Besar before the 2004 tsunami. This beach is always crowded with visitors, both from Banda Aceh, Melaboh, or other areas.
With white sand and shady pine trees, this place is an ideal place to relieve fatigue. More than half of the residents of Lampuuk died in the disaster. The trauma of the tsunami threat made people reluctant to come to this beach, in addition to the large number of fallen pine trees and debris left over from the tsunami. This could make this beach closed to tourism activities. However, this beach gradually recovered. About a year after the tsunami, tourism activity on this beach was again crowded. In the post-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction process, the management of Lampuuk Beach is integrated with several other tourism objects in Aceh, such as Weh Island, Laut Tawar Lake and Takengon Plateau.
This has a positive effect on efforts to restore the image of Lampuuk Beach as the belle of Aceh tourism. Not only local tourists, the number of NGO activists and foreign volunteers who stopped by for a beach tour, especially surfing, also boosted the popularity of this beach. Currently, Lampuuk Beach tourism can be said to have recovered as before the tsunami. Along with improvements made, this beach has also been equipped with various tourism facilities, such as a banana boat. For visitors who want to spend the night, there are also various lodgings ranging from lodging classes to cottages whose rates vary according to the desired services and facilities. In addition, on the beach side, visitors who want to fill the stomach can also easily find seafood menu stalls.
These stalls offer a variety of grilled fish dishes, such as rambe, grouper, pomfret, shrimp, squid, and others. This delicious grilled seafood is suitable to be enjoyed as a meal when gathering with family or friends. Fully equipped with fresh young coconut ice. Another activity that can be done when visiting this beach is visiting turtle conservation. Located in Babah Dua, turtle conservation can be a vehicle for education for children about environmental preservation. https://maps.app.goo.gl/pVdESoXbd1i9D5B27
