... the most defining characteristic ...
... of this picturesque tree ...
... that has a bit of that '' fairytale look" we can often see in the fantasy-themed illustrations ...
... is its bark ...
( Enlargeable )
... thick but very light ... spongy and buoyant ...
... a very peculiar material ... fit to make various useful objects... in a natural environment-friendly way ...
... like this bottle plug ...
... from this bottle of homemade schnapps ... that I'm drinking here on this photograph, in my favorite, barbaric way ... directly from the bottle ...
... the drink is made with these fruits ... here called Zinzula ... from a small thorny tree in my neighbor's garden ... some branches are hanging in my yard so :D it's kind of sheared tree ... the scientific name for Zinzula is Ziziphus jujuba ... and it tastes pretty good ...
... I opened the bottle on this occasion while preparing the post ... and so now ... I'm writing in a very happy & inspired state of mind ...
... and so ... let's go back ...
... to the starring tree ... the main theme of this post ...
... the Cork Oak ...
... and his magic bark ...
... in the early summer ... when I made these photographs ...
... the acorns were just starting to develop ...
... and I saw a few protuberances made by wasps ... don't know which species exactly ... there were two types of these structures on the tree ...
... in this one, the larva concluded its cycle and the wasp ... or wasps ... went already out some time ago ...
... this is a shot from another nearby tree ... to add a bit of bright yellow to this prevalently dark green and visually a bit monotonous post ... and now ...
... after one last look at the bark ...
... and the closing shot presenting the Cork Oak tree in its entirety... is time to end this short entry ...
( Enlargeable )
... all the photographs ... well, almost all ... are my work, the two mobile phone shots on which I'm drinking for the post:D are made by a friend of mine ... who gave me the permission to use them, however, whenever and wherever I need ... THE END.

A wonderful post. I love the trees, the 'barbaric' snaps consumption, and the wasps' nests. Most of all, I like the cats. You will never be lonely :))
:D True some cat is always present in the picture
