There's no telling which Oak tree came first...
...and no doubt which Oak will stand last.
I ponder upon all they've witnessed, from their home here high on this hill.
A country lane at their feet they've seen Travelers, by two feet and four pass by.
More often today it's wheels rolling folks blindly right by.
Their home was a place where folks gathered.
Devoted Prayers and Laughing Players to Eternal Layers...these trees have witnessed lives slowly pass by.
Just to the East folks came here to gather. Building their church a slight rise up the hill.
I imagine them here by the shade of these trees, visiting ...being in community. Stories of life's joys and tribulations rising up into the leaves.
Just South across the lane, a school was built for the children.
These trees watched youngsters gather to learn and to play.
Today nothing remains of the schoolhouse. Yet, flowers shout from their blossoms, Hey! Life was made beautiful here!
These Oaks have stood in silent witness, over gravestones laid out by the row.
Carved names of the Builders and Prayers and Players mark spots on the earth where their bones lay below.
These trees have seen Joys and Intentions. Heard Laughter and Tears just the same.
I honor them now in telling their tale. May their memories forever remain.
Removing the fallen Oak tree brought it's Story to Me. It's wood to heat away winter, making its circle complete in my home.
We left with more than wood to show for this day.
I gathered some bits of their story. Took cuttings and seeds from this site. I snapped pictures to connect with my memories and tucked into my heart these Old Oaks and their Tale
We've been approached to remove the second Oak tree. We have counseled its ending should wait.
For now it continues to stand and watch guard on this land. Each morning still welcoming the light.
That's the Unfinished Tale of Two Trees.
Thanks for sticking around til it's end.
You've become a witnesses of this story.
Within you and I, the trees tale will remain. For today and the beyond the second tree's last sunset
A special thanks to @old-guy-photos for hosting and promoting #treetuesday.

Beautiful way to honor them.
The stories that could be told by these old Ents. Always hate to see them go
One with the nature. Always. Together.
I enjoyed your post. Really did. I love trees. Must have been a Druid at one time. I sense trees and was fortunate enough one time to hear the Redwoods sing on the California Coast many years ago. Really, they do make a humming kind of sound. I know it sounds whacky but they do. And it's definitely not the wind or anything like that. Trees, I have some old junipers out in the field by my house. I'm estimating they are somewhere between 200-300 years old. Perhaps more. And I wonder at all the things they have witnessed.
Beautiful, indeed!
That was a beautiful read. You area a great writer. And the photos are great as well. I really like that swirl pattern in the log. That's way cool.
I love the words and also the symmetry of the trunk how it curls in!
Beautiful! I especially loved the last two pictures
It's always fascinating to wonder how long a tree has been standing for, the history that goes with it and all that! Nice story about the trees though.
This was BEYOND Beautiful!!! I love nature and photograph trees often while having some of the thoughts you expressed here....
You have touched a 'branch' in my heart and inspired me to explore deeper into my own thoughts about the trees I visit. 🌳💙 🌳💙 🌳
Happy to be following you!
