The second closest planet from the sun, Venus, will eventually re-appear in the western sky at dusk. This month is the perfect moment to enjoy the beauty of Venus, especially from the northern part of the Earth.
for the next few weeks, Venus is still at its lowest point above the western horizon at dusk. To see it, you should find out the sunset time at your location. About 20 to 25 minutes, the new Venus can appear.
When viewed with the naked eye, because Venus is at a very long distance from Earth, this planet will look like a small star that emits bright light, but not flickering.
The journey of Venus on the evening sky has actually started since January 9, 2018, when it is in a superior conjunction point, which is on the opposite side of the sun in view of Earth.
After six weeks since the superior conjunction, 98 percent of Venus's surface is still illuminated by the sun, making it look almost perfectly round (if observed through binoculars). However, this phase will change as the orbit around the Sun.
Venus will survive in the western sky at dusk until October 2018, when it is in the inferior conjunction point.
Mid-March is a great time to see Venus and Mercury, especially from the northern hemisphere. While from the southern hemisphere, the appearance of Venus and Mercury is more difficult to see.
** Definite Position of Venus Planet **
Since the planet Venus continues to move around the sun, its position does not stop at a single point in the sky, but will rise higher every night.
This "Morning Star" will still be under 10 degrees from the western horizon on March 1, 2018 at 18:00 local time your area. However, at the same time on July 1, 2018, Venus was already at a height of 30 degrees from the western horizon.
Venus has never been in a higher position than that, because the planet is the inner planet. That is why Venus is never seen in the midnight sky, but only a few hours before sunrise or a few hours after sunset.
At the equator (0 degrees latitude), Venus will appear about an hour after sunset.
