“I have a dream that A New Day group would play with us forever.”
Our A New Day Play for Peace club in Vietnam stayed very busy during the Compassion Games. 30 volunteers hosted the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 17 for over 500 kids, bringing a lot of fun and new memories to their community.
The volunteers also ran a Game Fair with 12 education, art, and entertainment games for about 300 children. The volunteers leading games worked incredibly hard. The group conducted a game called “Dream in Moon Night.” The children wrote their wishes on colored papers and stuck on a larger piece of decorative paper.
“I wish that all the children could get a gift tonight,” wrote one.
“I wish I could become a good student until high school,” wrote another.
“I have a dream that A New Day group would play with us forever,” wrote a third.
After the games, the group organized a stage night with a few larger games, flash mob dances, Vietnamese folk dancing, and singing by A New Day and local children.
At the end of the program, A New Day sent 530 gifts (moon cake, a lantern, a candle, a notebook, and a pen) with each child.
Though the event left the volunteers feeling incredibly tired, their hard work paid off when they saw the smiles and happiness on the children’s faces, giving them purpose and inspiration to continue making a difference in their community.
