A Great Love Story

in #trending7 years ago

So I know the title may be a little misleading but in my mind it’s pretty close and very interesting. So I met a young lady a few month ago that shared a bit of her life story with me. She doesn’t mind me sharing here so I will. She was 15 when she became pregnant. Her mother was a single mom. Her father lived in another state and did not come around much. Her mother asked her to leave when she found out about her pregnancy. She did but had nowhere to go. A home for teen mothers eventually took her in after she lived on the streets for a few weeks. At the time her baby was born she was still in the care of the home. After the baby was born she had a short time to find a place for both to live because she didn’t want to give her child up for adoption. During this transition she did allow the child to live with foster parents while she looked for stability. She searched for jobs day and night all the while living on the streets. One day she heard from her sitter who was living at home that their father had died and he left her something but she had to go to the state he died in to pick it up. She saved some money from washing dishes to buy a bus ticket and was able to recover the inheritance. It was an old beat up van. The kind that contractors use to carry job materials and tools. She drove the van back to her home state and continued the search for stability. She made the van her home and every night she would dream of the day that she could return to motherhood and recover the list time with her baby boy. She eventually was hired at a large retail chain. While working days she went to school at night. She was able to finish in two years with a degree of some sort. During the 2 years she lived in her van and took showers at co workers homes while climbing the corporate ladder of the large retail chain she worked for. Eventually she was able to save enough money to put a down payment on a home and she is now the manager of her department at that retail store. She also has full custody of that baby boy who is no longer a baby. She persevered and never gave up. Her mother wanted her to have an abortion. I’m not picking sides on that subject but I am saying that in this case love wins. Her love for that child drove her to greatness and success. We all have that capability if we seek to unlock it. Thanks for reading and GoodLuck in your journey to greatness. 0DCADC78-ABE3-4625-AF5D-EFD0CE31C7D9.jpeg
