My friends were showcasing magic tricks, trying continuously to one-up each other. After a few went, one particular friend went up, bragging about the quality of her one card trick.
She grabbed an entire deck from one of my friends, and said to me: “I can guess what card you have.”
She allowed me to shuffle the deck completely, so she couldn’t memorize any (not that she could, since it wasn’t even her own deck). Then held the cards spread out in her hands, and let me pick a card from the pile.I gave the card back to her face down, and she lifted it up into the air. With a straight face, she turned the card around, so that she could see the face of the card. “I’m holding it up to show you that I can’t see the other side of the card. See? Now you know that I’m not cheating because holding it up won’t reveal the other side.”
Then she turned the card back around, put it down, and spoke “guessed” my card with a devious smile.
Hey fellow steemian:-)
This sounds a lot like the keycard principle.
That is a very underrated and mostly overseen principle, wich works (almost) every time.
I'll go into further details in a future blog.
Upvoted and followed.
