INTRO

In 2017 trivia took to a whole new level with the groundbreaking app Game HQ. Every weekday (twice a day) and once a night on weekends the app went live to give participants the chance to win real money for free. All you had to do is answer 12 questions right and you would win or share the prize with your fellow contestants. Simple enough right? This has led to a couple rival trivia games with the one gaining the most ground being 'Cash Show' (I know, can you rip it off anymore?). Here I will take a look at the main differences between the two, give you my choice and you can choose which one is right for you.

PRIZE PAYOUT

Both apps pay out through Paypal but we will breakdown the prizes for each and minimum cash out requirements.

HQ - Each game has a total prize of about $2500 per game. On Sunday nights however the prize goes up to about $10,000. You must get to the end to win or share the prize. You can cash out to your PayPal account when you win over $20.

CASH SHOW - Each game varies between $3000 - $5000. You can start making money at question 6 which they call 'prize' questions, questions 1-5 are 'non-prize' questions but once 6 hits and you get it right you can start earning money. Keep in mind that the prize money is split throughout questions 6-12 and not all at the end like HQ. If question 6 is worth $300 all players who got that question right would split that and keep playing. If the total split for the question is less than .01 then the prize carries on to the next question and so on.

WINNER - (Cash Show) wins here. Less money needed to win to cash out and more chances to win earlier in the game.

INTERFACE

HQ - Very professional looking, easy to use home screen where you can find what you are looking for very easily.

CASH SHOW - Color scheme leaves something to be desired. Lot of different options for navigating on the home screen, while not a bad thing it can be confusing to a new user.

WINNER - (HQ) As a first time user you could say Cash Show was a rip off as it looks poorly designed compared to HQ and a carbon copy. The Cash Show App could use a redesign to appeal to a wider audience so HQ wins this one.

THE HOST

HQ - The host for the most part is Scott Rogowsky. A very charismatic guy who talks a little too much. It's a live show and he can't be there every single day so there have been fill in's on occasions or guest hosts (Jimmy Kimmel!).

CASH SHOW - I am unfamiliar with this hosts name but it is a pre-recorded greeting/explanation of the rules every time you play.

WINNER - (HQ) While at first I liked the HQ host Scott I discovered I just wanted trivia and not to be talked to death. The pre-recorded host for Cash Show was good at first but after hearing him say the same thing for the 100th time I realize that audiences, maybe even me do appreciate the live interaction of HQ.

DIFFICULTY

HQ - Definitely harder questions here with the occasional 'savage' question knocking out two thirds of people in an instance.

CASH SHOW - I've seen some hard questions here but definitely easier than HQ.

WINNER - (Cash Show) As much as it is fun to be stumped, I'll take the novice setting.

NUMBER OF GAMES

HQ - Every week day at 3PM and 9PM. Only 9PM on the weekends and the occasional pop up game which can happen at anytime. Usually if there is a pop up it is 20-30 minutes after a previous game just ended.

CASH SHOW - Every week day at 330PM, 8PM and 930PM. Weekends at 130PM, 330PM, 5PM and 930PM.

WINNER - (Cash Show) More times to play, what's not to like?

OVERALL WINNER

The winner in my opinion has to be Cash Show.

Even though Cash Show sounds and looks like a carbon copy ripoff it is still awarding prizes more often, more easily and at greater intervals. The game hasn't experienced too much internet lag yet as it still only gets about 100K to 150K players per game as HQ constantly has over 1 million Plus every game. Some of the features like eliminating a wrong answer are also a bonus.

Game HQ came first, has a better interface and a live host. It has bigger payouts on Sundays and is the most popular trivia app out there. While I enjoyed it at first I finally have deleted the app on my phone. Just too many people playing these days and the prizes IF you make it to the end aren't big enough.

Which one are you going to choose?
