We have been over the road team truck drivers for over 14 years. Crossing America continuous 48 states delivering goods to customers. During this time we mainly lived in our semi truck due to life changes. During this time we dreamed and talked about how we would live once we got closer to retirement. When you live in a 7-foot by 7-foot semi sleeper for years anything bigger was an improvement. We wanted to live as simple life as we could and have no bills when we retire.
Living in a truck you learn how to live small and off of a DC to AC inverter. The trucks alternator and the batteries were our power source. We wondered could we do this at our future home. After many years of research and planning, we got our plan together.
In Oct 2012 we bought our first 10+ acres in Oklahoma. In December 2012 we had our cabin delivered and our journey was started.
From then to now we have built a fully off the grid home, yet it's still a work in progress, we work on it every time we go home. We also have purchased many more acres of land and have also started building a homestead (hobby farm) for our future.
Our home is fully powered by solar at the present time and we have the ability to add wind power. We have as our primary source of water at this time a rainwater collection system. We have a deep well that we are getting the parts together to make it our primary source. We use a composting toilet and a gray water evaporation pond for our waste.
Our place is a work in progress and we have been sharing our life over the last 4 1/2 years on YouTube
( https://www.youtube.com/user/OurOffGridSolarCabin). But youtube has made it almost impossible to keep our channel family friendly and our Biblical beliefs public. Just no channel control.
We have come over to Steemit hoping to be able to share our life as we live it. We will show our life on the road as well as our life at home and building our retirement dream.
We hope you find our life interesting and helpful as we share it here.
May God Bless you.

Thank you! I try. Before I forget, pursuant to what we were chatting about regarding your plans for your page, don't forget the "christianity" and "family" tags. You can use them where applicable to target the folks who will be the most interested in your faith and family posts.
Welcome to steemit!
Sure do miss seeing Rebel Rat over on your YouTube channel.
God blessed us with the little feller for 13 years and we miss him too. God had His reasons. At least he isn't in this crazy world dogging semi's and big dogs now. He is chilling.
Welcome and hi from Australia, I'm following to hear more on your interesting venture.
