President Donald Trump's son-in-law was rushed to a hospital in New York after opening a letter in which there was a suspicious white powder, police said on Monday, February 12, 2018.

The letter was addressed to Donald Trump, Jr., local media reported quoting police officials and city officials. His wife, Vanessa, opened the letter Monday morning. Firefighters promptly decontaminated Vanessa and two others before sending them to a local hospital for evaluation.

As quoted by The Associated Press, police said Vanessa Trump admitted nausea and coughing. It remains unclear what white powder is in the envelope, but the New York Police said the powder was "harmless".

The White House confirmed that the president had talked with his son-in-law about the incident, and the Secret Service said it was investigating the "suspicious package" along with the New York Police Department.
