November 8th 2016 was made in history. The electoral vote decided that Donald Trump was to be the next president of the United States. At that point, the people took to the streets in protest of President Elect Trump.
So what do we do now? Protesting in the streets and on major freeways and highways will not solve anything, all the protesting and all the un-lawful assemblies will only bolster the fact that most people who are watching the protest on TV will become even more fearful of a uncertain world. Thanks to social media and alternative platforms to express our first amendment right to freedom of speech, people have ignored peaceful platforms of protest and took to the streets of America to say no to an election they thought was unfair. In California, the anti-Trump protesters disrupted peaceful people by blocking freeways, roadways and often conducted acts of vandalism destroying and or defacing OTHER peoples property only to strike fear and dismay and a complete sense of uncertainty of Americas future.
How is this in support of the democratic party or democracy?
It isn't!! Everyone who resorted to or followed along with protesting on the street and crying like babies, in my opinion was a SELFISH move to express how they personally felt about who their new leader of the free world will be. Instead of voting, and helping their cause by getting involved it appears everyone just stood on the sidelines and left it up to someone else to get the job done. If the people felt that strongly about who they wanted for President, why didn't they get off their asses and do something about it? It just proves that a lot of people care more about they they WANT and not about what they can do to help change in America.
In California, the Democratic party did in the most part do their job and got involved and overwhelmingly voted for Clinton, but still took the streets and blocked otherwise law abiding citizens their freedom of movement according to their fourth amendment rights. Yes it is un-lawful, look it up.
Complain, complain, whine and cry.. How does this help? 20 years ago, I sat on the sidelines and watched and listened to people complain about crime, fairness, racism, etc etc.. I myself started to act this way, until I thought, hmmm all this complaining whining and crying doesn't do anything, I need to get involved or shut the hell up. So, I did and helped changed communities and peoples lives on a daily basis as a public figure. I dedicated myself to service of the people locally and instilled these qualities into my family.
It's not about who the President of the the USA is, it's about affecting change in a positive way in YOUR community. The Presidency is way out of any of our pay-grades so to speak, but I can pick up a piece of trash on the ground and throw it away when I walk in my neighborhood. I can spend Thanksgiving Day feeding the less fortunate. I can take some time to interact with people in a polite way FACE TO FACE and not on a social media platform. I can create a small group of people and pick a LOCAL project to help those in need.
In my opinion, today's society is going to hell in a hand basket with a smart phone and a tablet. Everyone believes in their technology and believes what people tell them on the social media platforms. Although I embrace modern technology and we are lucky to convey an opinion and gain information via social media, it's still just a machine with buttons and a artificial brain. I have watched my own kid so involved in social media, he walked into a wall because his phone was more important than where he was walking and yes I giggled my ass off. MODERATION!! Is the key to most things in life.
Helping others in your community will do more good than yelling and screaming in protest about some President that doesn't know you and in my opinion, doesn't care about any of us. Resorting to social media to become what I call a "window warrior" and make cynical opinions and snide remarks to or about people you probably don't even know is time consuming and general waste of time. Why waste your time doing this all day everyday, when you can effect change locally get involved and join the real fight of poverty, hunger, violent crime and anything else that floats your boat. It may inspire other people to effect change in their neighborhoods and maybe, it will create a chain of change kind of like that old shampoo commercial which most of you have never seen. This in my opinion, is how real changes are made.
I encourage everyone, yes everyone for just one day out of the year, shut their devices down, walk next door and invite your neighbor for a good old fashion BBQ. Talk to each other, respect their opinions and ask that they respect yours, smile laugh and have some old fashion fun. We are only dividing ourselves and we have been doing this for sometime now. It has only come to light because of who the new leader will be, but we have been doing it for decades.
I have agreed to disagree with many friends and acquaintances, but it never changed the fact that he or she is welcome in my home at anytime.
