How is mercury put into the air by burning coal? Coal is just a phase of elemental carbon, it isn't some magical chemical which releases mercury into the air when it burns, mercury is a liquid metal, it's way too heavy to be in the air.
Also, mercury was proven to cause problems, it doesn't digest in your system because it's liquid metal, and may even get trapped inside you forever for the same reasons it gets trapped inside fish.
