I'm not quite sure where you received your info, but having trump and some of his people deny saying something, isn't proof of them not actually saying it.With the trumps administration track record of continuously lying, I think anyone with any common sense is going to believe Woodward more so than Trump...

The best/worst part of Trump’s presidency is people are so polarized and sure of thier opinions. The only thing that is for sure is that half of the people are catastrophically wrong. Each side thinks the other is fake news. It’s very sad.
Woodward has a brilliant track record and decades of experience. I respect him very much. Unfortunately General Kelly and General Mattis have released statements that deny the quotes attributed to them in the book.
You are quite right to say that denying something doesn’t necessarily mean that they didn’t do/say it. It’s possible that the source lied to Woodward, and that Woodward unknowingly wrote fabrications.
The issue is that the side supporting Trump has no news sources with journalistic chops or integrity. Not that I can find, anyway.
