Truth can be an elusive thing. What is considered true today can be found to be untrue in the future.

500 years ago we believed the Earth was the center of the universe and that all things revolved around us. The sun the moon and the stars all circled the Earth. Through scientific observation we learned that this was not a truth.

In the last 100 years we have discovered that many things we thought to be true have turned out to be untrue.
History is sprinkled with untruths and many of these untruths are still thought of today as truth.
Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas in 1492. False! We now know that there were Vikings that landed in Canada a thousand years ago. There may have been Chinese explorers even before that. The Minoan culture may have discovered the Americas around the time of the bronze age. Bronze is a combination of copper and tin and makes for a metal much stronger than either. Copper was in very high demand. There is an island on Lake Superior that is missing a million pounds of elemental copper. Did the Minoans find their way to North America to extract the copper?
We don't have any real conclusive evidence of this and so we cannot say that this is a truth. At least not yet.
History is full of non truths. The more we discover, the more we find that history is not always truth.

The North American Ice Cap during the latest ice age.

The great flood that is talked about in the bible and some other texts around the world was thought to be just a simple story. We have since learned that, indeed, the world suffered a great flood that may have wiped out many advanced civilizations. Something obviously happened between 15,000 to 12,000 years ago that may have brought an end to the huge ice caps of North America. It could have been a comet or meteor that struck and caused the ice caps to melt very quickly and caused the sea levels to rise some 400 feet bringing huge tsunamis that washed over the world. Advanced ancient civilizations would have no defense against this massive amount of water. Even today we would have no defense against a catastrophe of this nature.

Mathematics
Of all the truths in the world, mathematics may be one of the only truths. 2+2=4. That is a truth. E=MC2 is another truth.
Mathematics is based on logic.
Whereas the Theory of Evolution is just a theory, albeit, a pretty reasonable one and one that has been accepted, for the most part, as truth.
The theory of quantum mechanics is pretty well entrenched into our thinking and even though we do not understand it 100%, it is a working hypothesis from which we can confirm certain truths. Even the ancient Greeks theorized the Atom was the smallest particle, which turned out to be a truth. We now know there are many other particles that make up the Atom.

Social Truth

We now live in a time when we are bombarded with information. Much of this information is not the truth. Our society is changing and truth is being eroded. Take Fake News for example. News used to be based on fact. No longer is this true. Many "News Outlets" have given up facts for opinions and hearsay. Much of the time we have anonymous resources and unsubstantiated claims passed off as truth.

In Conclusion

There was an old saying, "Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you read." Unfortunately, even this is no longer truth. We are entering a time when truth is getting harder to find. This will have some serious consequences in the near future. Critical thinking is failing us as it disappears and is shouted down by people who only believe their truth is correct. Our education system has failed Truth.
Be vigilant and question everything!
