Memory verse:James 3:14
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your heart, glory not,and lie not against the truth
Introducing the lesson
Envy and jealousy could be said to mean the same thing as both are ill feeling and anger against our neighbour because they have something we dont have. at the same time there trends to b little difference between the two. Jealousy fills us with fear of losing out especially when wat we think should be our right is at stake. therefore we feel unhappy because the next person is in better position than we are while envy is an ill feeling against the other persons better fortune or success and a desire that you were the one
Conclusion:
Saul was jealous of David because of fear of losing his kingdom to David he was envious of David because he did not possess the skill David had. Jonathan recognized that David had special favour from God . he was neither envious nor jealous of David this is a good example. God is jealous over us because he does not want us to perish
