Jealous God

The word "jealous" when God used it to describe Himself was always strange until I began studying Hebrew. "Jealous" (Qanna) has two roots: Qen (a gathering for materials for the building of a nest for the seeds (eggs) and Qaneh (to build a nest). Put them together and we get "Qanna" which describes our God as one who watches over the eggs and young with jealousy and will defend them from the enemy and prevent any other bird from entering the nest.

Exodus 34:14, "For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, Whose name is Jealous, is a jealous GOD."

Our God will protect and defend His children from the enemy at all cost! ❤

Amen. The word keeps opening when we study the languages it comes from.

You are so right! The Word comes alive for sure :)

Thanks that helps clear it up.

I thought it was a clear definition that made so much sense!
