I believe they had a common 'teacher'.
The Sumerian's, Hopi, Inca, Maya, Hindu's and Egyptians have many similar legends that to my kind make it impossible that they weren't contacted by the same entities in antiquity.
It's not just those listed either! Something weird happened a very long time ago!
