Throughout the globe and almost our entire known history, humans have allowed themselves to be ruled.
Why?
This is the question I intend to keep as the centerpiece of my #tryannytuesday posts. Every time I read a news story of some horrible State sponsored violence, I look for how it came to be that this awful thing happened. So often, it is because some "do gooder" called the government goons on their neighbor. The State tends to protect these people because they are useful for revenue generation and also for propping up power and/ or perceived legitimacy.
So the question remains - Why?
These "do gooders" need to be held responsible too. Clearly, most of them have no idea that their actions are so dangerous. Others do intend harm on their neighbors and call the busters knowingly.
Is there anything that can be done about that? Can we start focusing on these people and see if that could persuade them from using the State against fellow humans?
At first glance into these questions it seems that humans call the State against each other because they are 1) lazy and unkowing or 2) vindictive meanies.
Does this mean we will always polish our own chains?
It sure does seem that Statism is an integrated part of human psyche. How could it not be? Think of our history: trauma, culture and even the self selected social alignment and possibly even breeding.
Does all of that mean we are doomed to bow to "the man"? There have been a few revolutions, but even those so far have turned out to be just cycles of Statism.
There is a growing divide between those that will and those that won't.
This isn't just about ambition. It is much more about an open mind and a willingness to step away from the historical normal structures of society.
I think we are seeing a very interesting phenomenon in which there is a growing separation between those that are mindlessly going about their day-to-day lives in the old way and those that are struggling consistently to gain freedom in their own sphere of influence with the ever amazing tools they find available.
This seems to be happening so fast. What effect is this going to have on us?
Out compete the State.
Technology is the great variable. It is the thing that we have never seen before in humanity that is truly different.
It may be the geeks that arm us with tools for freedom. Maybe freedom comes from peace. If it does, we have to implement that from the individual up rather than the top down. Is it possible that this great technological change is the paradigm shift that not only makes that possible, but even inevitable?
Education is key:
Homeschooling and other non-state schooling options are growing in popularity and choice at amazing rates. People seem to be realizing that the traditional form of government schooling is vastly different than real education. What kinds of effects would a growing segment of autodidacts and non conformist have on our world?
I am very excited to live in this world at such a trans-formative time. Will it trend towards tryanny or liberty. That is the big question.
What do you think?
Very interesting a provoking article. I didn't really get what you mean with
I will wait for a clarification, because It won't be a good decision to express my opinion if I am not properly informed.
Education and Technology
I think you hit the nail on the head with this one ! It is our resposibility to educate ourselves and our children ! Leaving such an important task solely in the hands of the "govenrment" is crazy. One should step back and look at the whole picutre, Education is a life-long process but many choose to neglect it.
Good job !
Thanks!
Hmm. I'm struggling with coming up with a good example; not enough coffee. There are certainly many examples of victims of the Drug War where neighbors call law enforcement on neighbors for truly victimless crimes. Other examples are various code violations and there is the example of the SWATing that happened with the gamers a month or two ago.
I may have to come back to you on this with a clearer mind in a few, but my intention is to point out that people use law enforcement for grudges or misunderstandings against other people and that often goes very badly for the target.
I kinda got it, thank you ! But if you have a problem with a person adn you can't do nothing about it how should one deal with the situation ?
I think steemit is a very good example of how certain individuals do whatever they like and the community does a very poor job self-regulating the platform. If you are implying on more decentralized society, we have a long long way to go :)
wah, thanks for sharing your experience, after reading your post, I am motivated, is the best 👍. Continue
