We are Alphas, a passionate and innovative team of blockchain, Web3, and development enthusiasts committed to transforming the digital content landscape. With our project CryptoStream, we’re building a decentralized video streaming platform powered by the Hive blockchain and Ecency integration.

Problem Statement

Navigating the evolving world of Web3 and decentralized content creation poses significant challenges for creators and viewers alike. Video content enthusiasts and creators struggle with:

• Centralized Control: Traditional platforms impose restrictions, censorship, and high fees, limiting creative freedom and earnings.

• Lack of Transparency: Opaque monetization and reward systems leave creators uncertain about fair compensation.

• Inefficient Distribution: Centralized hosting and streaming lead to slow load times, high bandwidth costs, and limited access to decentralized solutions.

Our Solution

CryptoStream addresses these challenges by leveraging the Hive blockchain and Ecency ecosystem to create a decentralized video streaming platform:

• Decentralized Storage & Streaming: Videos are stored on Helia (IPFS) and seeded via WebTorrent,
ensuring fast, peer-to-peer distribution without reliance on centralized servers.

• Hive Blockchain Integration: Metadata and transactions are recorded on Hive, providing
transparency, immutability, and a community-driven content ecosystem.

• Ecency Rewards: Creators earn Ecency Points and HIVE tokens for uploads and engagement,
incentivizing quality content through a fair, blockchain-based reward system.

• User Empowerment: A Web3-native platform that gives creators control over their content and
viewers access to a censorship-resistant, decentralized experience.

Tech Stack

• Backend :- Node.js (Fast, async processing for video uploads and API
handling)

• Frontend :- React + TailwindCSS (Modern, responsive UI for video
browsing and creator tools)

• Blockchain :- Hive API (Transaction tracking, metadata storage, and
Ecency rewards)

• Decentralized Storage :- Helia (IPFS) (In-process IPFS node for video
storage and pinning)

• P2P Distribution :- WebTorrent (Peer-to-peer video streaming for
efficient playback)

CryptoStream is a decentralized video streaming platform that leverages Hive blockchain, Helia (IPFS), and WebTorrent to enable users to upload, stream, and share videos in a censorship-resistant, scalable, and community-driven manner.

Our Experience

Our journey during this hackathon was an incredible adventure. As Team Alphas, we:

Overcame technical hurdles: Tackled real-time integration of Helia (IPFS) and Hive blockchain for seamless video uploads and metadata storage.
Enhanced decentralized streaming: Optimized WebTorrent and Helia to deliver efficient, peer-to-peer video playback.
Collaborated for user empowerment: Built an intuitive React-based frontend and a robust Node.js backend to create a transparent, creator-friendly platform.
We learned valuable lessons about blockchain scalability, Web3 development, and team synergy while having an amazing time bringing CryptoStream to life!
