Currently map progress:
Time to continue with the random dungeon generation project, using Appendix A from the first edition Dungeon Masters Guide. Here is the Link to the previous episode.
So far we have five rooms and a plethora of corridors. I think today we will adventure down the corridor east of room 5.
As with the previous days we will need our random tables:
PAGE 170 DMG
PAGE 171 DMG
PAGE 172 DMG
Now we can start rolling for our corridor. As you can see we are getting close to the edge of the paper so we may be limited in the rolls we can a accept.
- Check on Table I = (11) result is a "Passage Turns".
- Check on Table IV = (18) result is "Right 90 Degrees".
- Check on Table I = (9) result is "Side Passage" but since we connected with the other passage we will roll again on Table I to see where it goes.
- Check on Table I = (16) result is "Chamber".
- Check on Table V = (11) result is "20' x 30'".
- Check on Table V.C = (20) result is "One Door".
- Check on Table II (Door Location) = (16) "Ahead". What is beyond the door?
- Check on Table II (Space Beyond Door is) = (19) "Chamber". What size chamber?
- Check on Table V = (18) "Unusual Shape and Size". What is the shape of this chamber?
- Check on Table V.A (Unusual Shape) = (12) "Odd Shape". We get to draw whatever we desire, but how big is this chamber?
- Check on Table V.B (Unusual Size) = (20) "Roll again and add result to 9-10 (2000 Sf) = (11) "2700 Sf".
Wow this chamber is approximately 4,700 Square Feet.
Now for some math...
I needed a little extra help here so I rolled on Table V.A for more shapes and came up with circular and triangular so I will see what I can do with this...
This chamber is big, here is what I came up with (area 7):
Before we quit for the day we should roll for exits in the big chamber.
- Check on Table V.C. (Number of Exits) for area 7a = (12) result is 1 exit.
- Check on Table V.D. (Exit Location) = (9) result is "Left Wall"
- Check on Table V.E. (Exit Direction) = (11) result is "Straight Ahead"
Now for area 7b. - Check on Table V.C. (Number of Exits) for area 7b = (10) result is 1 exit.
- Check on Table V.D. (Exit Location) = (3) result is "Opposite Wall"
- Check on Table V.E. (Exit Direction) = (6) result is "Straight Ahead"
So our first exit will be in the Left wall (viewing the room from the door to area 6). I think I will put it in the center of the circular wall heading directly east.
The exit in area 7b in the opposite wall from area 7a. I will put it dead center in the angled wall heading southwest.
Here is the updated map.
That should do it for today. Next time we will adventure down the East corridor.
By now some questions should be arising;
- Why is this dungeon here?
- Who created it?
- What is the purpose?
- Where is it located?
- How old is this place?
I am sure there are a whole lot more. If you have any answers or questions drop them in the comments below. I have no intention of answering any of these questions myself, I will leave that up to the creative DM's who my want to use this map ;)
