Life is getting back into some semblance of order, and that includes posting in Hive. And within Hive, that means PEAKD and one of my favorite segments, Three Tune Tuesday.
I've always been a big music fan. I enjoy street corner musicians busking for change as much as full-blown extravaganzas. Actually, maybe street corner musicians more, since they're often just trying to get dinner money.
And then there are the semi-viable gigs. A guitarist serenade us while we eat brunch at a local cafe. A local band performing in a hotel bar, offering CDs from a gym bag for $15 a pop.
For today's TTT, I'm highlighting songs about the sheer joy of music. The one that came to mind right away is "I Dig Rock and Roll Music" by Peter, Paul and Mary. I was a young pup back then (1967), and can remember how that song put a wrap-around smile on my face and a spring in my step. To this day, my friends and I sing along whenever we hear it.
My second song has to be Joan Jett and the Blackhearts cover of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" from 1981. They were all punk and swagger, and their version carries so much raw energy that you can't help but sing along.
My third and final tune for Three Tune Tuesday is U2's 2014 release "The Miracle of Joey Ramone". It is also performed with some punk swagger, which they really elevated in their live performances. I love it because it's all about that moment when people fall in love with music. For me, that started with percussion, which has remained my soulful connection to this day. The picture at the top is of me leading our class' performance in first grade. Later it became piano, then drums. All so that the rhythms of my soul could shout, shout, let it all out. Sing to the heavens and earth and all who dwell there.
Here's hoping you have a wonderful day, and don't forget to sing, play, and share your energy with the world.
Throw in the 8-track and kick back! I love this experience...thanks for sharing!
