The first album I remember buying for myself was Queen's A Night at the Opera on cassette. I had a few others as gifts before then. I started fairly late on buying music as I was more into computers in my teens. Queen were also my first big gig.

Good choice - my first ones all been music cassettes too - have still tons at my parent's house, have to check if they still are usable.
I didn't have a record deck back then. I've not played a cassette on many years, but I previously found some are unplayable. I've got LPs too and they play fine.
my LPs do play well still too - sad not enough time to use them. But have some cool Vinyl stuff at home.
