Well, they did add the cast from the original anime, as somewhat of sidekicks. But it didn't get any traction, so season 2 never aired.

And it's pretty much what I wrote. - Another highschool story.
Don't get me wrong though. It's still the Soul Eater Universe. And the story ain't that bad, with some likable characters.
