I wanted to make a post to introduce my project TwitchPlaysCrypto, the world's first live crowdsourced cryptocurrency portfolio (twitch.tv/twitchplayscrypto).
I've had a recent fascination with a well known twitch stream called StockStream. Inspired by TwitchPlaysPokemon, The premise of StockStream is that users type commands into the video stream's chat. These commands then act as real time votes on buy and sell orders of stock in an investment portfolio. The video of the stream is filled with information about the crowd-driven portfolio that updates live.
Of course, as someone who has become fascinated with cryptocurrencies I had the idea of making this same kind of stream for a cryptocurrency portfolio. Labor day weekend was coming up and I thought the idea was just way too fun, so I decided to block off the weekend and make it a reality. The code is all open on github in keeping with the spirit of this just being a fun project. As you can see in the code, I used the bittrex api for all of the core functionality. The stream itself is a video of a locally-running website that I constructed at 1920x1080 calling a locally run node API that talks to the bittrex API, which is then fed into OBS, all of which is running locally on my linux desktop.
So that's it! Feel free to hop in the stream and type !sell XMR or !buy ETH or !buy SC and watch your vote take action! I'll be hanging out in the stream chat tonight so feel free to drop a line and say hi.
