Donald Trump sued for blocking some Twitter users!

Columbia University's Knight First Amendment Institute said it would sue Donald Trump for blocking Twitter users, claiming it violated freedom of expression protection. The institute filed suit today on behalf of seven Twitter users banned by the president, preventing them from seeing or responding to his tweets. The lawsuit was threatened in a letter to Trump in June, now "demanding that the court declare that the ban based on the people's view of the realDonaldTrump account is unconstitutional."

The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, dealt with the Knight First Amendment. She claims that the Trump account on Twitter is a public political forum where citizens have the right to amend the first speech. Under this theory, the blocking of users impairs their right to participate in political dialogue and stops them from seeing official government contacts. So, if Trump obscures people to criticize his political views, he does the equivalent of expelling them from the digital city hall.

However, the Knight Institute issued printed statements from the seven plaintiffs, who say they feel they have been significantly affected by the ban. Eugene Jo says:

"My tweets are relatively short, but since my Tweets are appearing in the comments on the president's tweets, which can be seen by millions of his followers, I now have very limited access to the president's account where I can once hear.

Wow talk about shooting themselves in the foot. This is the type of thing that will hurt them if they win. because if Trump can't block anyone on twitter. Then no one can be blocked on twitter think on that for a bit. there are block bots out there that would be illegal over night. It is the recipe for a real shit show indeed. So yeah i double dare them to win this thing

That's an interesting argument. So should I be able to sue the Washington Post or NY Times because they don't allow me to view all of their content without paying for a subscription?

Maybe I am missing the point.

Thanks
