So my first post was all about introducing me to your community but an overwhelming amount of people want to know how to use Twitter. If I had a dollar for every person that has said "I don't get it!" or "It's unimportant." I would be a millionaire.
Twitter is 2.5 lines. 140 characters. It can be a random thought, an opinion or the best damn business tool you've ever used IF you use it correctly. What you can't do is over-think it. It really is exactly the way I described it.
WHY: Why would you want to use Twitter?
It's immediate. That means your message will be sent out into the Universe and hit the masses with the push of a button.
If you use it as a business tool you'll discover that you can easily connect with people in the same business or with the same interests.
You can retweet yourself... once. DO IT. There are specific times that are better to post than others (with a bit of practice you'll realize when your audience responds best.)Reach is what you're aiming for but impressions will give you instant gratification.
HOW: How do you make people notice?
Use hashtags. A lot of people say that you shouldn't use more than than three. That's Horseshit. You can use as many as you like depending on your business, I mean you don't want to post a sloppy tweet (yes. THAT IS A THING.) I write about Luxury Travel so I have to be thoughtful in my use. They are business tweets but I am honestly interested in my random thoughts and posts and I want others to find my words interesting enough to click on.
Humans are visual creatures. The human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text, and 90 percent of information transmitted to the brain is visual. If you don't add some type of photo you have a 99% chance of having no one see your tweet. That's a fact.
Shorten your links. There is no excuse for a hot mess (see #2) I use the Google link shortener. The reason? In my suspicious mind I believe that Google probably gives their own links priority in ranking.
I don't really know if it makes a difference but it sounds good.Be interesting. Easier said than done, right? Everyone is interesting in some way. Be that person.
It isn't something you can fake. Talk about what you know and someone will listen. Authenticity is everything in social media.
So everyone is interested in how I make money and that too will be revealed.
This was only Part One.

@ahlawat
You can retweet yourself, but you cannot resteem yourself, lol.
How did you know what I was thinking?
I've got super powers ;-)
I like people with super powers! I FOLLOW them... :)
:-)
Good points @travelinggreek.
I used to do social media for a hotel group and Twitter was the spearhead of their social activity. I managed to get them to 6K followers in the first few months - not big time, but I was happy with it starting from zero.
The key thing I learnt was that you must not treat Twitter as a one way street. You have got to interact, reply to tweets, retweet others etc to build a real follower base. Just blasting out your own promotional tweets all day long doesn't work.
Ha! I also have built hotel accounts and it's amazing to me that the industry hasn't embraced the platform more
and yes... just like in everyday life you have to offer something valuable. It's like if you have a friend who only talks about herself continuously it's exactly the same thing.
Twitter has done so much for me: helped me get a book deal, helped me get a professional job, etc. Looking forward to the next post!
Very cool! I built an entire business on the platform. I'm happy to see i'm not alone. :)
Thank you, I've been trying to utilize twitter better and it's certainly not going away
We will work on that. :)
I'm going to pass your post to some great people. This series is going to be great. :)
Thank You!!
I see 26 Steemit Accounts in your future @travelinggreek
THAT my friend gained you a follower!
And THAT my @travelinggreek gained you another follower!
Ha!! Followed back... I'm liking this! :)
Great intro @travelinggreek, thank you. Any estimation on when other posts will be published? Want to read more :)
I am going to try to kick one out tonight. If not tomorrow for sure. :)
