This reminds me of the largest of its time ship that sunk in the north Atlantic in 1912, sailing from Southampton to New York leaving over 1000 dead, and luckily over 1000 survivors.
Back to the templar, a few rich men had organized a boat cruise from KK beach to KK Palm beach where the big party had been arranged.
It was basically attended by city tycoons and a few celebrities.
The cruise was delayed from 2pm, for about 3 hours until the party animals' patience ran out and they hijacked a substitute MV Templar that had been lying dead in a poor condition for about a month. Its owner had invited a mechanic for repair but he did not show up claiming the boat was in a very critical state.

So when these folks had waited long, they used a heavy motor vehicle to push the MV Templar into water. It could only park as near as 120 meters from the shore, and so they used small boats to sail the to be survivors together with the unlucky into the killer vessel!
This motor vehicle left a damage that they hurriedly invited welder Umar to renovate. Now i know you are suspecting a viable cause of the collapse.
The marine police tried to intercept about the boat's state about 5 minutes into the journey, but it later compromised and let them go.
They met two boats on two occasions, each warning them that they have observed fault on their boat, but these drunk party animals only mocked them, telling the sand carrying boat that we are not looking for sand to buy.
The boat lacked a qualified captain, enough life jackets, small saver boats, and sufficient communication. Only one of the passangers could raise a phonecall for help from the nearest center as the boat hole broke further and entered much water to submerge the vessel.
They tried to divert to the nearest shore but it was rocky and inappropriate, and so opted for another, Mutima beach.
As they screamed for help, the loud party music could not let rescuers know, until the speakers were thrown in water to reduce the weight.
The boat sunk at about 150 meters from the shore, at a depth of 4.9 meters.
One of the survivors, bruised on the forehead says the boat overturned him into the depth, and he hit the boat as he tried to come upwards. It required him to first swim horizontaly until he was free from the boat premises.

This fatal tragedy is majorly attributed to the poor condition and sub standardness of the vessel.
