Ah the 80s is it me or was the World a lot more peaceful and fun back then? I remember life just being about watching the Racoons and Thundercats and then out to play on my BMX (with spokes) until the Sun went down. Life was a dream building bases and dens. I feel like kids back then still had their imaginations and they weren't stuck to an Ipad or a lap top all day.
The days always seemed to be Sunny with deep red sunsets, popping into a corner shop to buy stickers for the latest sticker albums whether it was the football Panini sticker album or Garbage Pail Kids. When we did have time to play on a games console it was on the "SNES' or "Megadrive' and the games were absolutely immense. Mario, Sonic, Streetfighter Two, the list was endless back then, just everything seemed better. Thats without mentioning the fact that contrails actually used to be contrails and not chemtrails that spread all over the sky and wipe out the Sun like they do nowadays.
Don't even get me started on the music, it was timeless! The era of the electronic keyboard and fluorescent peroxide hair where the music was REAL music with actual singing, rhythm, beats, and melodies, not like today's trash which literally burns your ears! God I sound so old, but its true music had soul and meaning back in those days. The band 'Tears for Fears' are still a guilty pleasure of mine to this day!
The 80s were the days where if you bought a penny sweet they actually cost a penny not 3p or 10p for one of those long bananas like now. Alright the activist in me knows they were toxic as fuck, but when your'e 12 years old you don't really care! Oh the mischief too, carol singing when you shouldn't be (and can't even sing) 'knock down ginger' on poor old people's houses. (for those of you not from the UK this is where you ring the doorbell on a random house and then runaway)
Life was a dream and as 80s kids we could achieve anything, we were the kings and queens of our castle. A time where kids could be kids. I for one will always be grateful for the 80s, Ed the Duck, Gordan the Gopher, and all the other weird and wonderful things that made that THE best decade. I would love to hear in the comments below what you most loved about the 80s. If you weren't around in that decade then I'm sorry to say my heart goes out to you!

Great post! Love your work Tony, wished Facebook could say the same... In any case, I loved the 80s (mostly...) even wrote about it in my own book in progress:
My childhood home
Growing up in a small town called Knowlton in the 1970s was an interesting experience, to say the least. With a population of about 1000 inhabitants at the time, I was an only child, quite the loner and was always very in tune with nature and the forest, spending much of my free time wandering the forests around my house. I would climb to the top of a 50-foot pine so I could have an unencumbered view of our beautiful Brome Lake less than half a mile away. The swaying of the treetops from the mild summer breezes would give me some exhilaration but so would the breathtaking view and the thrill and danger of being so high up.

3 My Christening
My Christening, parents to the left, godparents and grandpa to the right.
My Catholic upbringing was also an important part of my childhood, being indoctrinated into the worlds’ largest religion was not of my choosing, as it hardly ever is, and not much to my liking either. I always found the religious teachings so limiting, and suffering was also a constant in so much of their doctrine. Now, I can understand how suffering is a part of life even if I did have a relatively happy childhood.

I was born in the 80's and all that music, the cartoons and movies of that time influenced my childhood. The goonies and E.T. they are from my most remembered movies of those years, also Indiana Jones and star wars. There was everything, I completely agree with you. Upvoting for you!
The Goonies legendary! :)
Oh my gosh! I was just thinking about how great it was and glad that i was a teenager in the eighties! Payphones, freedom, music, great summers and fun wintets!!! Yes! Love it!
Yes freedom is definitely the word!
Great post Tony. Glad i had the chance to grow up in the 80's it was brilliant back then. Kids nowadays have no idea of the fun the we had and barely a penny spent, our imagination was unlimited. I used to love Rolland Rat and Fun House, and always mind being terrified by the tv series V 😂 x
Fun house I remember that. I used to fancy the twins!
Sneaky Ninja Attack! You have been defended with a 5.94% vote... I was summoned by @tonysayers33! I have done their bidding and now I will vanish...Whoosh
used to love Thundercats I still have most of the figures in my cupboard! 💯🐒
