2018: A year full of opportunities

in #ulog6 years ago
This photo has been at Seda Hotel (beside Centrio Ayala Malls) together with few of my students two centuries and few years ago from Kong Hua High School, a popular Chinese school in Cagayan de Oro City. They visited me to during one of our training breaks to hand me out the invitation for their batch reunion. These are few of the students I had that were so dynamic and now had been so successful on their chosen path.
Have you ever heard the catch-phrase School is cool . Well if not, well I would really like to attest how true that is. For more than two decades, I served both as a high school teacher and a school principal on different public schools around Cagayan de Oro City.

Those years and even up to now, has been very challenging for me because you do not only work as a school principal, but also as a member of the community that surrounds the school. The safety of the students should be given a lot of emphasis aside from the agenda that the students should be learning to love to learn.

Working under the education sector is not only about the challenges one would experience. There are a lot of things one would experience as well. To brief you all, my main point here is not to boast about my profession but to share some of the wonderful opportunities that being an educator has given to me. That is why I love the catch-phrase School is cool.

One of the opportunities, as I made mentioned on my previous blog is to undergo training. For 2018, being an administrator has allowed me travel to places, meet different people, and undergo different training. I will highlight some of the training that I joined. One of it was sphere-headed by Australian Aid or AusAid.

On the photo above, I have worked with some school administrators across the country to come up with strategic plans for our respective schools.

It was an opportunity indeed as the program was only open to a limited number of public schools in the Philippines. I felt glad that our school is one of its recipient and I got to represent Tablon National High School. Some of the people in this photo might be familiar for you if you work under the education sector in the Philippines either in public or private, and elementary or secondary.

This was the view that was taken from my hotel room during our stay and training in Manila. It really gave me a different vibe because although Cagayan de Oro City is a first-class city, it has a limited number of tall buildings/ skyscrapers.

I had fun goofing around whenever someone takes photos of me as a souvenir for the said event.

It was not all fun by the way. The accommodations that we had has allowed us to relax during breaks. But as mentioned early, we needed to come up with strategic plans that would be useful for our respective schools.

We must also be able to implement measures that were given as examples during our training, but we needed to make sure that it is feasible for our schools particularly for the learning environment of the students.

2018 has been a mark of successes to a lot of us and I am looking forward that it would be the same for everyone in 2019. Cheers to exciting journeys and travels as well. I cannot wait to be active again. Steem on!
