So I just came home from a walk.
Walks are undeniably great. Morning walks energizes you and gives you the wave of fresh morning air. Nature walks offer irresistible views of our Mother Earth. A walk in the park gives you new people for you to meet. And so on and so forth. In short, walks are wonderful. But out of all the walks I just mentioned, night walks certainly has a place in my heart.
So the following are the reasons why I take walks at night and why you should too.
1. A Relaxing Way to Exercise
You just had your dinner. You feel bloated with all the delicious food that your mother or spouse or you made. You may just want to lie in bed and watch some Netflix but you lowkey want to move your body without sweating and putting too much effort. Then, taking a walk is perfect! I know walks doesn’t have much effect like running or working out but it can add up your steps throughout the day. Go get your pedometer and walk!
2. Great for Mental Health
Is it just me or do ideas and inspirations come to me every time I take a walk? When the sun sets and the moon take place, the environment shifts to a peaceful vibe. When everything is quiet, you can hear your mind and heart talking. You get to think.
A walk is also the time when you can reminisce and reflect of what you have done throughout the day. It’s the time to ask yourself some philosophical questions you have always wanted to tell yourself. You may also think about the future or maybe the things you’re going to do tomorrow. It’s always important to end your day with a chill end.
Here is an exercise for you that may open your mind. Try looking at a house and just imagine what kind of life the residents are having. Try this to a house in which you know no one. Maybe it’s just me but it makes me realize that there are much more lives out there and that the universe doesn’t just revolve around you.
3. Get Inspired
Writer’s block? Take a walk. Everything around you is an inspiration. Look up, you get to see the stars, the constellations it formed, the radiance of the moon, or maybe the calm darkness of the sky. Look down, focus on your feet or shoes and think about the places where they took you today and where they can take you in the future. Hear the barks of the dogs and imagine what they could have possibly be doing whenever their owners are gone. Look around you, observe how the trees sway. Listen to the chirping of the birds and get inspiration from the music they created. Be inspired.
