Joining the community here at Steemit is a huge learning curve. There’s so much information to take in, so many things to learn, so many people to meet, so many communities to explore.
As you start to find your feet, you meet wonderful people, begin to form friendships and relationships, discover the excitements of discord and begin the process of hunting for your clan.
Your clan can take many forms- from loosely woven groups of people who come together over a certain topic or tag, a more professional group who strive together in one direction towards one goal, or a family – a vast, warm loving group of people who will always have your back. You’ll hunt down one, or many, of these clans… dipping your toes in here and there until you fall head over heels in love with one or more of them, and there you’ll be happy to hang out with your people – who will enrich your life here on Steemit and beyond.
The bit I want to talk about is one step back from this- the hunt. While you’re exploring and meeting people, you will inevitably join many many Discord servers. You’ll join groups and enter competitions, you’ll make applications and ask questions. As long as you do it all with manners and good grace, I’ve found that the majority of people (actually- all of them so far for me!) have been generous with their time and their knowledge, kindly guiding me and directing me towards what I’m looking for.
But here’s the point of today’s ulog. There will be groups, communities, competitions and servers which don’t turn out to be your new home. They may not be a good fit for many many reasons. But it’s so important for you to know that it is okay to keep looking elsewhere, to leave a server if it’s not what you thought it would be, to say goodbye to a group if you have outgrown it or would like to explore something else. Don’t ever feel stuck. This is your journey, and your family are out there waiting for you to arrive.
When you find them, you’ll know by the fireworks and the old friends waiting to welcome you through the door.
Happy weekend my lovelies,
Eveningart x
P.S. Sending all my love out to my family here on Steemit. You know who you are.
hehehehee I'm catching up - and this was what we talked about this morning!!!! and i even used the word "clan" on my post last night! LOLOLOL

@tipu send tip please!
I know... I think this might be why Bengy this we're the same person ;) Hahaha- great minds...
So glad you like the post, it's actually inspired by the conversation we had over on Discord a few days ago about all the different servers you can end up being a member of.
Thank you so much for the tip too - what a lovely treat <3

Ding! I have been summoned?
Great ulog though, it really is a bit of struggle at the start to find your community and niche. I recently have been trimming my Discord and follows again, as my tastes and fit changes....
Ooooh, the modesty!
hey you!!! our modesty is there!!!!! hidden underneath all that greatness ;)
right, @dreemsteem?
oh wait - i mean... right, @eveningart?
sorry - i always forget which account I'm writing in (hehehehe)
LOL, who's blog post are we taking over with comments this evening?
Hello! Now how did you do that- I didn't want to bug you so didn't @ you in my comment. I believe you may be a wizard!
Ahh... sod the modesty :) Gotta get it in there when you can. Trumpets and all!
Glad you liked my ulog though... E x
Heh, the non creepy answer is @ginabot! However, let your imagination run wild with creepy answers to that question!
Haha okay I will..

Scared now!
hehehehe - he has Gina set to tell him whenever anyone mentions "bengy"
kinda like I do when anyone spells dreemsteem wrong ;)
yes it was too late to give a Dreemie to... heheheeh but I would like to feature it today on Ww - so maybe a few more eyes on it!
Thank you so much - what an honour x
Woohoo! Someone else that spells honour the right way!
The only way to spell it properly ;)
Make sure to correct all the welcome wagoners! I drives me nuts to keep writing 'center' in markdown all the time...
The strength of Steemit is it's diversity, I've never seen a platform which seems to have a community or family for literally any passion or interest!
great job eveningart!howdy there @eveningart! such words of wisdom that the more experienced can relate to and the newer members can take to heart!
Thank you! Yes- it's incredibly diverse, which means there's a home for all of us here... it's just a case of being happy to explore until you find your tribe. Thanks for your lovely comment, as ever!

you are so welcome. I still don't know where I fit because my interests are al over the map but I'm thrilled that you are finding, or have found yours, what about The Alliance? any word? I forget how long it's been that you've been waiting, steemit makes me lose track of time.
Haha that makes both of us- but that's half the fun! I'm nearly there- on my way to being part of the Alliance Family 😁

early congratulations then girl! wow. you will probably grow much faster in many ways when that becomes official.
Sometime family are a pain in the arse. You know the types that you can't shake off. There's one now, following you around prodding you with a stick. "What's your word count?" I can hear him say. Followed by, "Have you fed those dragons? And don't forget to clean them out! They're your dragons, they're your responsibility young lady!" Then he mutters something about there being 148 days to Christmas.
Ahahahaha- they're the very best kind of family- the ones I'm honoured to have stick around.
The dragons are in a strict diet today- I couldn't afford to lose any more characters. As for word count- it's an old school 7 close written A4 pages today! Will get it typed up sometime over the next few days. Seems I'm less likely to kill of characters when I'm handwriting 😁
LOL! I don't think I could handwrite again. I was always rubbish at it (dreadful handwriting). I had an old typewriter when I was young and then we got a home computer (ZX spectrum) when I was about 12 or 13 and after a while bought a hard keyboard for it. I taught myself to touch type.
Let me know the word and body counts later!
:)
Hello good sir!
So - body count... still the same (they're getting way too comfy though... someone's gotta go!) Word count now 8972... it's growing!
I wish I could touch type... that would make life so much easier ;) But I have to say, sometimes the different speed I handwrite compared to they typing allows for a different pace and type of plot line to appear in the writing.

There are many communities on Steemit. Community is like a family. At the beginning of my Steemit journey, I did not spend more time on Discord. Now I think I should have spent more time over there.
You can connect with amazing people all over the world. You can be a part of any community you like. Thank you @eveningart for sharing this!
You're right! I was very luck that the guys @welcomewagon helped me learn to use Discord early on... it can be a bit of a confusing haze if you're trying to work it out on your own :)
Thanks for your comment,
E x
