After I set the latest batch of canna-butter to simmer on the stove top this morning, I headed outside before the raindrops began to fall.
I want to do my third ulog post and share some more of my herb and flower medicinal garden with everyone.
I'm still in the process of getting it all organized for the best end results and volume of harvest; but it is coming along well considering this is only my second summer in the planning stages.
So come along and enjoy!
Over the last week I have shared some of my garden areas with everyone...
The back property edge
Cukes, Beans & Peppers
So today I wanted to share a little of my front herb and flower garden with you all.
I have multiple reasons for wanting a lush, full and expansive herb and flower garden on the homestead.
- Medicinal- So we do not have to rely on medications, prescriptions and all the chemicals inside these that cause more reactions and side effects than what they are supposed to be treating. You've seen these commercials on TV... treat your high blood pressure with this pill.. but be aware you may have reactions of this, that, this and that... and of course.. more of this and that. No thank you!
- Beauty & Nature- nothing looks better than a herb and flower garden full of vibrant colors, beautiful blooms and bees and butterflies buzzing around
- Culinary- fresh picked basil, fresh ground up oregano, a sprinkle of dill, a salad full of fresh greens... need I say more?
Yesterday I read an article online on the Prepper's Will website about the ultimate medicinal garden, and it made me think even more into the future about what I expect from my herb & flower garden; and even my regular vegetable garden area.
I had originally set out to be prepared for loss of income, possible military confrontation (war) or whatever may come our way of natural or man-made disasters. I still am working towards the prepping thinking here, but my herbs, flowers and homegrown foods (even the preserving of them all) mean more to me now.
I can treat cuts and scrapes {as I explained in this video post two weeks ago}about comfrey salve. I can make healthier choices of my intake. I can learn how to grow my own pain medicine. I can grow, supply and make my own treatments using tinctures. Even making my own soap can come from the garden.
The garden is an endless supply of nourishment, food, medicine and beauty...

@goldendawne beautiful friend congratulations thank you for sharing.
@goldendawne
Lemonbalm is always aggressive for me too. Mine grew onto the grass out of the flower bed and it smells so good when I mow that area!
That is beautiful and so rewarding. Congratulations to your lovely wealth. I wish one day i can grow my own foods and herbs too. Best wishes always @goldendawne
Nice article. So many flora and fauna to choose from and learn from...
