#Ulog 004 - Let's Rock Baby!

in #ulog6 years ago

Today is my 'other half's' birthday. He has had a pretty great birthday weekend as Saturday we spent the day at Let's Rock Exeter. The weather was gorgeously hot, the music varied and it was all very relaxing.

As is a tradition now (as we did the same last year) we pitched our tent, cooked bacon sandwiches and popped open the Champagne for a Bucks Fizz. A great way to start the day.

We then loaded up our Festival Trolley full of our supplies for the day - chairs, cool box (full of cough bottles of water, umbrella etc. and trundled our way from the campsite to the festival.

We grabbed a lovely spot at the back of the 'room' so we were close enough to hear the music but could still comfortable talk to each other (well, we are over 40!).

Between 12 noon and 10.30pm we enjoyed the music of: Aswad, Marc Almond, Sister Sledge, Midge Ure, Wendy James (ex Transition Vamp), The Fizz (Previously known as Bucks Fizz) and OMD.

Neil has now lost his voice after a particularly loud sing along of 'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye' with Marc Almond. He had been hoping that he would perform that number since we booked the tickets last August!

I particularly enjoyed the fabulous Sister Sledge. That family really know how to rock the show! I can't believe they were formed in the early 70s - wow!

As the sun went down the stage was lit up by the fantastic light show and music performed by OMD

At 10.30 the festival ended and we made our way back to our tent really happy and already talking about booking again next year.

Last year I thought was going to take quite a bit of beating with the likes of Jason Donovan, Chesney Hawkes, Belinda Carlise and Tony Handley (ex Spandau Ballet) and Level 42 but the knocked out of the park again!

If you ever get a chance to go to Let's Rock - we could not recommend it more.

Until next time,

J x

I think I prefer this years offerings to last. They are all 'has beens', but its great too see them all in one place. I was a fan of several of the mentioned back in the day.

Wow Jennifer, that sounds like such a fantastic weekend - I'd have lost my voice too, singing along to that lot!

Hope your OH had a brilliant birthday, and you've both recovered from all the excitement ;) E x

Cool Recap post
very well done!

Birthday travel is the best! We have traveled for Scott's birthday about four times now. The past three trips were big ones covering over 1,000 miles. Such great fun!

We have discussed traveling to music festivals, but never seem to do it. Instead of a tent, we use hammocks and stands. So much better at over 50 to not have to try to get up off the ground.

Sounds like an amazing tradition you have there!
