Having watched 24 cycles of America's Next Top Model (repeated each cycle at least twice) and 6 cycles of Asia's Next Top Model doesn't make my opinion valid but at least with sense.
To be honest, for me cycle 6 didn't go "Beyond Limits" hahahaha what an irony. The show only lasted 10 episodes (1 episode was a recap ep. duuuhh), I actually feel like it has just started, unlike the previous cycle that lasted for a total of 13 without a recap episode. Some budget issue maybe hahahaha.
This season for me should've had the tag line of last year's cycle: Expect the Unexpected LOL. They really UNEXPECTEDLY eliminated Jachin and Beauty, the two girls who would've made the finale a cut-throat competition. If it had been the two of them on the finale, I wouldn't mind who would win. Also with the fact that all winners of Asia's Next Top Model are fair to white skinned, I would love to have a girl with a dark complexion like Beauty or Jachin.
But with the girls on the top 3, My bet for the top prize would really have to be Adela, as much as I wanted to discredit her because she just looks like another Maureen to me and she is too short for a high-fashion model given that she already looks too cute, pretty and commercial, it can't be denied that among all the girls she has been the most consistent. Being on Philippine's Next Top Model has really worked well for Adela, giving her the advantage to know how to strategize and adapt well on the competition. All through the competition, Adela has always been on the top and has never produced a bad photo. Adela is the reliable model and very easy to direct.
Mia for me undeniably has the perfect stature of a model but I don't feel the winning vibe from her. She has the perfect body of a model but not so with the face, she looks like an actress for me, she actually looks like Natalie Portman. If you eat, live, breathe Top Model, you'll know a model when you see one. Mia can be the verb, she definitely can model, she has the skills but she isn't the noun, she looks like an actress than a model.
Dana, the winner, is definitely the most unexpected among any other girl from the competition. Dana definitely has shown the biggest leap of progress from the show. I thought she would be eliminated on the third or fourth episode of the show but she stayed rather long and ended up winning. I actually felt she was favored by the judges and that her photos weren't that great and were only overrated specially the beauty shot and the mundane shoot... and her finale photo? Gosh that was modelling 101, one hand on the hip, other hand on the head, but I understand that they had to say good things coz it's the finale duuhhh. Though she has grown so much, her sleepy eyes are still an issue for me. She definitely has to keep those eyes awake or know how to make it work for her. For me, she is also the unconventionally beautiful among the three, not a bad choice for the remaining top 3 but not among all the girls she was up against, and I don't see her making it big internationally but I hope she proves me wrong.
Dana winning is just okay for me but gossshhh.... Beauty and Jachin.... how could they dump the girls? Until now I can't understand.
I love the girls and I will always be a top model fan. But as a fan as well, I do have strong opinions and this one is not the best cycle, just my two cents.
