howdy this fine Sunday @leeart! wow what a wonderful post so full of beautiful photos! what a great place to get away to. what do they mine around those parts? I think you're pretty brave to get in that fast moving water, what if you got washed down river? I guess that would make an exciting post! lol.
I would just be sliding down the river enjoying it with cuts and bruises after lol! As long as I can protect my head then it's fine I guess. Maybe next time I'll bring a helmet and just be carried by the rapids haha!
They mind gold here in these parts. Although small scale mining is not encouraged, it cannot be helped. It is the livelihood of most of the people here. There used to be a mining company here but it had to be stopped after it was destroyed by the river.
howdy tonight @leeart! well sir, that is a very interesting area you have there, a lot of small scale gold mines huh? do they just dig in the mountains or do they pan for gold in the river? and have you ever tried it?
They do dig in the mountains and do panning. I did do some panning when I was a kid but maybe once or twice never had the chance again.
There was once a story that there used to be a gold that was infused on top of a big rock and apparently this rock was just there in the open but nobody noticed it until one lucky person did. I don't know how big the gold was but story goes that that person got rich from that - one time, big time.
howdy today @leeart! how interesting, and the income levels are low around there so people go up and try to find gold to survive on? do people still find some by panning?

The powerful forces of nature! Holding yourself up against the rock, against the powerful flow of the water, you can feel the intense pressure and strength of Mother Earth!
I heartily enjoyed your walk down to the river, and your explanation about the head statute. As it happens where we live as well, as tourism develops, major changes take place. People start setting up shops, to cater to more picture takers!
I am so happy that you are able to visit and spend time with Grandfather. Grandparents are a scarce and important resource, they do not last forever! We must cherish them and extract all the available wisdom while we can!
The power of nature is amazing and at the same time scary if you think of it. I really have to brace myself going against the flow. I think that would be a good place for river rafting if only the water is a little deeper :)
Indeed. Business and development cannot be helped.
It really was a relief. We were there late in the afternoon already. We have had so much fun that we did not notice it was getting dark. We had to quickly get out of there because it started to drizzle. I was worried the water will rise suddenly. Good thing it did not and the drizzle stopped as soon as it started.
Kun inatake ka talaga ng nerbyos pwede ka malunod. Ako din nerbyos na pag walang naapakan tas lampas ulo. Kaya ayoko sa malalim. Kun malalim man, dapat may life jacket. Siguro 4 years ago or 5 years ago ko lang nakuhang maging kampante na may life jacket at nagkalakas loob na pumunta sa malalim. Dati kahit may life jacket ayoko talaga sa malalim. Takot ako malunod e haha!
ang ganda ng mga adventures sir. nakakatuwa at nakakaenjoy, parang nakasama na rin kami, hehe. salamat po sa pag babahagi ng inyong karanasan. I love all your blogs, seriously :)
That's a nice place from where your grandparent is close to. Just a fresh, cool journey while visiting your grandpa, I love that!
I can feel how cold the water was and how powerful its debit is only by watching all these pictures which are very well taken. :)
About that Lion's head, even though there are no lions or tigers, it surely has a meaning, maybe it represents the city? A legend? History? I would love to find out more.
Anyway, great adventure and well writen post! :D
I have not been to this river during rainy days because of fear of sudden surge in water level that's why it's my first time to experience it up close. It would be best to go in the morning so it wouldn't be so cold.
I have to dig more into that Lion's Head as well. There is a logo of the Lion's Club there though so I'm guessing it was through their club that they came up with the idea of making that rock into what it is now.
Hi there just wanted to pop in and see how your family is doing. Was delighted to discover you scored a curie!! Way to go and congratulations. This post surly deserves it. Must have taken hours to get all the photos text and video put together.
Glad to hear your grandfather is on the mend.
Thanks @headchange! It did took me hours to do so because my internet was acting up fearing my browser will crash when I have only about 1/4 more to put in there haha! It was a relief that it did not.
My lolo (grandfather) was happy to see us. I think they don't get a lot of visitors these days because of how people are busy plus the weather sucks. It is monsoon season here and we get a lot of rain. He always go to neighbors when he has the chance. By the time we get back from the river, he was gone lol! We were unable to wait for him to say goodbye because it was already late and we have to go back home. Our cousin informed us later that day he came home around 8:00 p.m. haha!
Woww beautiful work on this my friend and with amazing photos. Looks so refreshing to take a dip in that water. Great work and congratulations on the curie well deserved.
What a wonderful post- I almost feel like I spent the day with you! Your photographs are beautiful, and the clips of the river really brought the whole post to life. I had to laugh at the clip where the kids are running across the scary bridge, just after you'd written how scary it can be to cross. I love how fearless little-ones are!
The rock paths certainly look like they could twist an ankle or two- but how I envy your dip in those waters- it is absolutely beautiful and sounds like a pretty perfect day all round.
Congratulations on your Curie vote- you really deserved it.

I wish I was that brave when I was at that age lol! That bridge is steadier than the first one. I did not video the first one for the phone might slip out of my sweaty hands :D
I got hurt before because those rocks are sharp. I was wearing slippers only then. I don't have good sense of balance so I easily slip and fall. I have to make sure that every time we visit the river I should be wearing shoes.
How amazing place to visit @leeart, I look you really enjoy it... What is that you who sit with two children, and hey...you got small fish, are you frying it to your lunch lol...
Those were my brother-in-law and my nephews. We only got two tiny fishes just to pleasure the little ones lol! It's hard to find those fishes if the water is that strong. We can catch more during summer time when the water level is low.
Salamat, madam! Mayat ti mapan ta nalinlinis uray nu napigsa ti danum. Panay lang gamin ti tudo na hehe. Imbag natimingan mi han nagtudo di napan kami nagpasyar.
What a lovely report, I love the pictures! Although that bridge would be something that I would not dare to walk on myself.. I would be so scared lol, did you actually cross it yourself?

There are those who stick to it and still mine and pan :)

I love those photos and the place is wonderful.
Thanks, sir @long888! Sana lang talaga ma preserve ang mga gantong lugar dito sa atin.

Lagi akong may fear sa bodies of water. Tarantahin ako pag nasa tubig. Would you believe na muntik ako malunod sa 5 feet. Haha so embarrassing

That was a nice visit,
I hope you enjoyed the travel.
I was waiting for that swimming part.
To see how you did it in this strong river.
Big up.
And the rocks in the outlay are colorful making a nice emotional red carpet.
And oh, the bridge.
It really feels like someone is going to deep fall in there.
Everything is thrilling.
I did enjoy the travel :) It's always interesting to visit this place every now and then to see the changes since the last visit.
I like that "emotional red carpet" description of yours.
Woww beautiful work on this my friend and with amazing photos. Looks so refreshing to take a dip in that water. Great work and congratulations on the curie well deserved.

Thanks, @anouk.nox! Yes, we did. There is another bridge further up that is made of steel for those who don't want to cross this hanging bridge :)
Wowowowow!!!!
