What I like about Steemit is that we can share photos to share a glimpse of our lives, where we live, what we do, how we feel. It is a platform where we can express what we want. With the introduction of @ulog, it made it even more better because we can be celebrities. (WHAT IS #ulog?)
These are photos taken at Session Road. Session Road is one of the major thoroughfares in the city and it is in the heart of the city. It was named so because it leads to where the Philippine Commission held its session meetings before. This is closed during events such as the Panagbenga Flower Festival to give way to parades, street art, etc.
I have been mentioning that Summer missed our city this year. Again. When we do get the heat, it is a sign that it is going to rain later on. Heat or not, the rain comes. It does refresh the earth. A lot. It is hard to think that in some parts of the country there is no rain and that they are enjoying summer. This is an opportunity for another photo session be it indoors or outdoors. It gives you different scenes.
When you go out where do you spend a rainy day?
In one of the malls here in our city, they always have an #art gallery. This is one of the things I appreciate about them. #Baguio-City has recently added to its name and awarded by UNESCO the title of Creative City. It is the first in the Philippines. Filipino national artists and award-winning artists like Ben Cabrera (BenCab), Ben-Hur Villanueva, Jordan Mang-osan and other local artists, painters, sculptors have put #Baguio-City in the map and made mark in the art world. Young and upcoming artists and photographs are also being discovered. A city that is rich in #culture, crafts and #art is a great place and opportunity for innovation and discovering creativity.
There are art villages like Tam-Awan Village and BenCab Museum located in the city that showcase different arts and artists.
Have you visited an art exhibit or a museum recently?
Have you had enough of #foodphotography today? Then skip this.
The photo above is the Ilocano Platter of La Parilla located at Inn Rocio Hotel, Kisad Road, #Baguio-City. It consists of pinakbet, bagnet, sinanglaw, an egg (sliced in four), fish crackers, Vigan longganisa and rice.
- Pinakbet - a vegetable dish that is made up of vegetables such as eggplant, squash, string beans, tomatoes, bitter melon, okra and fish/shrimp paste. It could include pork and prawns.
- Bagnet - Ilocano specialty wherein the pork is boiled first and then deep fried giving it that extra crunch.
- Sinanglaw - BE WARNED: This is not for the squeamish. This a soup dish consisting of beef intestines and other internal organs with onions, chili and ginger to taste.
- Vigan longganisa - Ilocano sausage made famous by people of Vigan, Ilocos Sur. They have their own way of making their sausage special and delicious that caters to the taste of people which is why they are sought after.
This would have been better if instead of fish crackers they should have put chicharon or fried pork belly. However, what is in their platter is satisfying enough to experience a taste of Ilocano dishes. There is another restaurant that we frequent because of the same dishes as above. However, their dish is more of the Tagalog region. Now that there is La Parilla, I will be coming here more often.
I will give this a 4/5 rating. I love the ambiance because it is set in an almost wooded area. It is near the city center and Burnham Park. The street is not that busy which gives a quieter setting. There is a wait for your order and it takes longer during peak hours.
As most of you know, I have been posting a @ulog about my grandfather stricken with illness. Read here:
ULOG #7: TAKE IT AND THROW IT
ULOG #5: MY HEART IS FULL
ULOG #4: STAYING STRONG
I received SBD from @lynncoyle1 and @shirleynpenalosa. When you expect nothing yet big things come from unexpected people, it just makes your heart swell with gratitude. Your words of encouragement and prayers is valuable. Priceless. Whatever you give will come to you in twofolds or more. It may not be the same way as you have given it but it will be returned so much more.
Give whenever you can, however you can. Give selflessly without asking something in return. Be kind. Help each other.
My lolo is now better. Thanks for your kind words, prayers and well wishes. Prepare your baskets and ready to catch your blessings.
