Ulog ~ 1 ~ Monkeying Around On the Homestead With Boys, Plants & Flowering Trees

in #ulog7 years ago

IMG_7034.JPG

This is my favourite time of year, when the serviceberry trees start flowering. I love its unique rusty brown leaf, the white flowers stand out so well against them.

With the tree's long spindly branches, sometimes when I look outside it looks like little white flowers are floating around in the air. Bear with me please, I'm about to overindulge in serviceberry flower photos, like thinning plants, I just couldn't delete any.

Just Beginning to Bloom

Last one I promise...

So luscious!

Monkeying Around

IMG_7038.JPG

The boys had the day off school, it's a 4 day weekend for them actually so HORRAY!

IMG_7049.JPG

Who needs a playground when you have rocks, and trees to play on?

IMG_7051.JPG

The Chickens are Doing Great

IMG_7048.JPG

Penned in now for the summer, however we keep it interesting in there for them. It involves a lot of straw and treats to go scratching for all of the time. Soon I'll be pulling weeds like crazy out in the gardens and feeding that to them as well.

IMG_7053.JPG

Life's not as fun without the #chickenbitchez free ranging and getting into all sorts of hi-jinx...but it sure saves these little guys' lives.

IMG_7042.JPG

Sugar Peas growing up nicely.

IMG_7043.JPG

Sunflowers are popping up all over the place too.

IMG_7054.JPG

Mmmmm...Strawberries coming soon...

IMG_7055.JPG

IMG_7059.JPG

I have so much dill everywhere I actually don't think the chickens could put a dent in it. Often I cut a bunch and throw it in their run. I can't dry and freeze it all it's just too crazy. And it starts off so innocently hey?

IMG_7044.JPG

The Oregano Monster I swear I'll drive by this place in the years to come when we don't live here and see that the oregano has taken over that whole box.

IMG_7041.JPG

The hostas have mostly unfurled.

IMG_7047.JPG

Plenty of bee food everywhere!

Out For A Rip

IMG_7067.JPG

IMG_7069.JPG

They just love it over here since the church paved their parking lot.

IMG_7076.JPG

Stryder was the first one to ditch his shirt. I know it's not very "PC" hahaha, but fuck it you only live once. If they wanna pull their shirts off in the church parking lot and ride around I say give er.

IMG_7070.JPG

It wasn't long before big brother Kiedis followed suit.

IMG_7071.JPG

I hope God has a sense of humour, I have a feeling he does...we exist, don't we?

IMG_7073.JPG

The seagulls sure aren't judging. I love how they are always roosted on the the bell tower. Every time I've looked up at that tower for the last 3 years there is at least one seagull there.

A Few Last Clicks

IMG_7077.JPG

The yellow leaves were positively glowing.

IMG_7078.jpg

Anyone know what those tiny little blue flowers are?

IMG_7080.JPG

Well, that was the day through my eyes, I saw a lot of beauty as always, and spent time with the most beautiful part of my existence, my children.

This is my first #ulog, I've been meaning to join this movement since it started, and I hope you all join in using this tag. It's a wonderful way to be able to write, or share something here every day. Check out the guidelines in the link below, it's something any of us can do!

And well deserved xxx

Big Love Beautiful @sallybeth23 and @yogajill xoxoxo

I totally agree 💜💜💜

Awe!!!!! So happy 4 u!!!! 😙😙😙😙
Love this recognition of one of my favie steemers 🙌

Loveeeeee your flower pics. Well, all of your pics. Your interpretation of simple things is so beautiful. I agree with @sallybeth23, i think the sweet blue flowers are forget-me-nots 🐣🍃😊

...that's it! i am joining the ulog movement too!! Lotsa love to you Lynds 🌸🌸🌸🌸

Out for a RIP! I love it! Since you showed me that video, everything I do is a 'rip'. @winstonalden: "where you heading" as I walk out the door, "Out for a rip!" Which for me means walking the beach, messing about in the dirt or watching chickens, so basically what you do, minus the responsibility of children or singing. Everyone would thank me for not singing, believe you me :)

My peas are a bit more advanced but I planted them early this year, but everything else seems to be on even keel with you and your lovely sea-side area.

I've now dedicated my sunday's to non art posts and did use the tag #walkwithme, though it wasn't too long a walk. I did meander down to my Summer studio, but it's so windy and rainy today, I pretty much meandering right back in doors.

As I am typing this the waves are loud and there are white caps out there. I am determined to get some gardening done today. It'll have to be in the shade garden, that is not on the sea-side of the house so some protection from the wind.

Thank you for taking us on another walk and hope your house hunt is still going well.

Oooh a Donna #walkwithme!! I'm going to look now!!

The househunt is going pretty slowly, not much available in our area so we're looking more at how we can make this place bigger for the boys...improvise right?!!

Exactly! Do you have the potential to buy up more land? Or do you mean make the house bigger?

Don't get too excited it is a pretty short walk :)

Yeah, we're gonna make another room in the house, and move our living room. No chance to buy anything hahahaha, I wish!!!

I could be wrong but the little blue flowers remind me of forget-me-nots. What a stunning collection of photos. Absolutely delightful. I can see why it’s your favourite time of the year. It’s like a reward for making it through another long winter ☺️ I have never heard of serviceberry trees, the colours are gorgeous... colour combos like this make me wish I was a painter. Your children are flourishing as beautifully as your garden. So nice to see them. Thanks Lyndsay yes ur make the most inspiring posts that always warm my heart. Big love to you all 🌈🌴💛🦋

I wish I was a painter too haha! How wonderful would it be to be able to recreate scenes of beauty...I can't draw well or paint, or dance...another thing I really admire and love, dancers!! Sometimes we can be the performer, but there always needs to be an audience and I'm more than content to fawn over artistry from the crowd <3 <3

I gotta come by and see what's new in your world, thanks for coming over and blessing my blog SallyBeth <3 xoxo

You are totally an artist in so many ways believe me. ☺️ One of life’s naturals. Love you Lyndsay Bowes ❤️

Hendrix and I have so much Love for you too, you're a warm and awesome name in our home!

They are forget me nots! :)

Hallo
I think the tiny blue flowers are "forget -me-not"s (Myosotis). Maybe "Wood forget me not" (Myosotis sylvatica) or "water forget me not" (Myosotis palustris)

Aww...thank you so much, how could I ever forget this? Hehehe!! <3 <3 You're the best at identifying @valkyrion!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Well that's the result of an unconventional Life: First I studied forestry science (unfortunately without graduating) then I made an apprenticeship in landscape gardening. And now I'm teaching mathematics.

Oooh wow, it sounds like you've had a real JOURNEY of Life!! xoxo

Hooray!! Spring has finally sprung :) I love watching all the new buds coming out; there really is such a sense of renewal to it all. And I love seeing your kids out bike riding...nice to be able get out of the house and enjoy time with them too. I notice so many parents who think it always has to be something "big" when planning to actively engage with their kids, but like you, I loved just hanging out with them :) Enjoy this time, because it's so true what you hear; the time really does fly by!

Love the new #ulog thing too; I'm going to have to check it out!

Yes, I couldn't imagine them all being in tonnes of sports, I don't even know how we'd have the time to get them all to where they'd need to be, 3 kids and right now we don't have a vehicle, just Brendan's work ride that only has 2 seats, so simple it is! <3 Thank you so much for all of the loving good vibes you always send our way Lynn <3 <3 <3 <3 Sending bucket loads of love back to you and Brian!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Thanks Lyndsay! I appreciate that so much <3

may I join you, I want to be friends and want to learn and accept you share your experience in steemit

Hey @lyndsaybowes hope you've had a great four day weekend with the boys .. I've been away at a wedding (not the Royal one lol) so I'm feeling a little fragile :) .. hence why I've spun over and taken a look at your beautiful post! Man everything is just so alive now .. amazing how quickly the weather has changed, I have a feeling it's going to be a great summer! Loving your sprouting food and I bet those strawberries are going to taste amazing!! Great work my friend, I feel better now :D

Oooooh no fun bachelor parties or anything? Just a super boring wedding? Tonnes of people...? Traffic? What made it so draining?

Hey @lyndsaybowes it was a pretty long drive to get there .. but it was a friends wedding and as such these things are never quiet lol .. the reception was in a pub where we had a licence until 2.00 am and then after that there was a party so I didn't really sleep on saturday night .. then I had a long drive back the next day .. (luckily I was getting a lift!) I then stayed at a friends Sunday night and made it home yesterday afternoon/early evening :D

#ulog? That's right maybe I must try to make this one😀 I see your amazing post here @lyndsaybowes by using #ulog tag😊 yeah! I will learn how to use this tag and start to make some post by using this tag😊😊😊

And God is a chill guy. Hes a computer brain not even a human but humans have personified him for so long everyone has come to see him as a ... well... you know.

.< Hes just a programmer, writing the script and daaang do I ever adore the sun and the earth's unity in gifting us all this existance.

I guess we had to be made imperfect, to keep our egotistical monkey asses from ever thinking we are superior to any one else. (Bibiandpalllls)

Eagerly awaiting for the beauty of "his-story"
as the kids enjoy it all again.

Bless ya'll and thanks for sharing thr adventures as always.

may I join you, I want to be friends and want to learn and accept you share your experience in steemit

I need to go into the chicken run and get some close ups of our favourite stars soon. Thank you for your undying support of our life journey @madushanka <3 <3

Great photos @lyndsaybowes. And your boys remind me when I was their age and playing in the woods right behind our house. We had these large vines that you could actually swing across this big gully. Great times.

Thanks for sharing and found you through @daveks spotlight on his Blog :)

Oooh wow, that's so awesome, where did you grow up? When we lived on the west coast (Vancouver Island) we were able to find some vines to swing on, so far that's the only place in Canada I've found like that!

Yeah, it was in East Tennessee near the Smoky Mountains. We had huge Oak trees and this one unique area essentially right behind our house. We called it "vinesville" Never saw anything quite like it around where I lived. NO longer there as they cleared it out for new houses in this neighborhood. My parents still live there since 69'. And we will make the trek to see them for 2 weeks in july

God knows boys are born naked. Your pictures are lovely as ever. Is it not just so beautiful everywhere?

It is and to think most of the trees still haven't opened up yet, soon it's going to go BOOM!!

Hi,

Looks like all is full bloom and going well at your homestead. Good to see that.

Winter is a distant memory now, bring on the milk and honey :) :) :)

Very, very nice....
It reminds me very strong on my youth, I sat hours and hours on a tree in our garden for to read a book...
So nice to see some children in our present times not only sit in front of the TV or playing with the smartphones...
Best regards
Tom

They're not allowed to play on phones, but they do have a computer, and we limit the amount of time spent on it, it's great that they still have their imaginations, they come up with so many fun games, all just with sticks, and hills and trees <3 <3 <3 Thanks so much for reading @zanoni!

Looks like summer came fast!

God does have a sense of humour. After all, I’m still here! 😆🤣😂

Aww, thanks for reading Shawn! xoxo :) :) :)

Anytime, Lyndsay!

Amazing cracking rays here in England too for once I love summer 💯🐒

I'm so glad that fog is gone for good! <3 <3 <3 Have a wonderful day Vibe!

And you my friend 🌞 💯🐒

You got some great shots there! This shows the camera gives much greater detail and emotion than a phone. Good to see the boys letting loose. Hope you are all doing well ☺
